In the ideal case, the size of central patch T in sliding window should be approximated to the target size. In fact, the size of small target usually changes in different frame. If the scale of patch T is smaller than target, the potential target may be masked by the adjacent background regions, causing missing detection. Infrared (IR) small target detection plays an important role in the field of image detection area owing to its intrinsic characteristics. This paper presents a multiscale local homogeneity measure (MLHM) for infrared small target detection, which can enhance the performance of IR small target detection system.
