SDRT initiated by Nicholas Asher has been applied widely. According to this theory, a discourse has a hierarchical structure and discourse relations play a key role in the construction of segmented discourse representation structure (SDRS). This paper first briefly introduces the SDRT view of discourse structure and its unique SDRS construction process. Then it shows how abstract entity anaphora in Mandarin Chinese is resolved by SDRT.
