From the perspective of interactional linguistics,this study focuses on other-repetition in Mandarin conversations.The findings indicate that other-repetition only occurs in the non-initial position within the local sequence and tends to form a single-unit turn,and that partial repetition is the most common type.In terms of the form,the highest frequency occurs with nominal elements and whole sentences of initial utterances.Other-repetition serves various interactional functions including expressing stance,confirming,repairing,registering receipt,answering questions and connecting turns.Overal...
