This paper proposes a new simple but powerful spatial–temporal local contrast filter for detecting moving point target. Firstly, a novel temporal local contrast and a novel spatial local contrast are proposed, and based on them, a spatial–temporal local contrast filter (STLCF) is presented. The process of using STLCF method to detect moving point target is demonstrated, and the performance is verified by detecting target from different image sequences. Infrared moving point target detection is a challenging task. In this paper, we define a novel spatial local contrast (SLC) and a novel temporal local contrast (TLC) to enhance the target's contrast.
