This paper presents an algorithm for understanding problems from circuit schematics in exercise problems in physics at secondary school. This paper models the problem understanding as a problem of extracting a set of relations that can be used to solve problems with enough information. The challenges lie in not only analyzing the circuit schematics but also extracting the proper relations for a given exercise problem. To face these challenges a novel approach is proposed to detect circuit nodes with their current flows to extract the current equations for nodes. And the other novel approach is proposed to extract voltage equations of independent loops. The proposed approach was tested with a dataset collected from the text books and the exam papers for the students at secondary schools. Experimental results show that the effect of recognition and analysis we designed delivers promising result, and our approach can be adapted to more complex electrical circuit analysis.

Smile detection plays an important role in human emotion analysis and has wide applications. However, there is still a gap between the performance of the current smile detection algorithms and real-world applications, due to variations of head pose and environment noise. We propose a robust framework based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for smile detection. To alleviate the influence of head pose variations and improve performance, the proposed framework customizes two-feature learning layers such as (1) smile feature extraction layer is constructed by hidden factor analysis for learning head pose-insensitive smile features; (2) smile feature discrimination layer is constructed by marginal Fisher analysis, and it is used to learn discriminative features for further enhancing the discrimination between smile and nonsmile. The two layers both work as fully connected layers, and they are connected layer by layer to a backbone CNN network. Experiments have been performed on two publicly available datasets, and the results show that the proposed framework delivers promising performance (95.45% on GENKI4K and 93.62% on labeled faces in the wild attribute) and outperforms the state of the art. With the popularity of the Internet and information technology in education, a growing number of studies have been conducted on its influence on academic achievement, and further attention has been paid to the influence of gender factors. Through the structural equation model, this study used Internet self-efficacy as a mediator to compare and analyze the direct and indirect effects of the ICT competency and the network interaction on the mathematical achievement of the students of different gender. The result shows that the direct effects of male students' ICT competency and mathematical achievement are negative and significant, while female students are not. The direct effects of ICT competency and network interaction on mathematical achievement of male and female students were all negative. However, during the adjustment factor of Internet self-efficacy, the indirect effects were positive and significant. It could be seen the crucial role of Internet self-efficacy between technical use and mathematical achievement. Teachers should attach importance to the current situation of male students' Internet reverse use. At the same time, they should also pay attention to the cultivation of Internet self-efficacy of male and female students, so that technology can better help students improve their mathematical achievement.

In order to improve the immersiveness and scene reality of current virtual simulation experiments, a haptic feedback-based design Stereoscopic virtual simulation resource construction scheme was designed, which is based on constructivism learning theory and situated cognition theory and takes advantage of VR technology combined with haptic feedback and binocular stereoscopic display technology And the experiment was validated by seed germination experiments in Middle School Experiment Teaching. The results show that students' interest in learning can be stimulated and the learners' behaviors and feelings can be satisfied.

Mobile devices for education expand the limitation of learning environment and promote the infusion of physical space, resource space and community space. It is the inevitable outcome by the combination of mobile computing technology and digital learning technology, and an important approach to learn as the development of ICT in education. The study proposed a conceptual model to analysis students' intention of using mobile devices in learning. Based on the hypothesis and a survey questionnaire of 271 students from middle school in eastern China, the results show that both perceived responsiveness and self-efficacy emerged as predictors of the perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. The most significant effect on users' continuance intention is perceived ease of use, next are perceived usefulness and perceived responsiveness. The model accounts for approximately 61.2% of the variance of behavioral intention, and the research results indicated that improvement of self-efficacy of students is obviously benefit for the use of mobile devices in middle school.

With the rapid development of the Internet and communication technology, online education has drawn more and more attention, online learning platforms, on the other hand, store massive learner behavioral data and educational data. How to effectively analyze and utilize the data to improve the quality of online education has become a key issue urgently needed to be solved in the field of big data in education(BDE), educational data mining(EDM) is exactly an effective and practical method and means of applying BDE. Therefore, EDM is an important academic research hotspot in the field of EDM. Firstly, the paper introduces the basic concepts of BDE, EDM and online learning platform, and then elaborates on the process of how educational data mining transforms raw data into knowledge. Finally, the key technologies of data mining are classified according to their uses, and gives its application in online education scene. The paper can provide some guidance for the research and application of educational data mining based on online education.

Extracting algebraic relations from a given circuit image is still a challenge task due to the complex topology of considered circuit. This paper presents an approach for extracting algebraic relations from circuit images through producing a set of atomic topologies from the complex topology of a given circuit. In which, algebraic relations, in form of a set of equations involving voltage, current and resistance relations from atomic topologies that is obtained by an iteratively operation of transforming a complex series/parallel connection into a series of atomic connection topology breaking down and shrinking. The extracted algebraic relations can be used to solve the exercise problem described by the circuit. Experimental results on 20 exercise problems show that the proposed algorithm can obtain a complete set of algebraic relations that can be used to solve the given problem. Further experiments conducted on a dataset of 200 scanned circuit images from the text books and exam papers demonstrate the proposed algorithm is the robustness and effectiveness.
