In an effort to address student engagement challenges, much research has explored student-to-student connected classroom climate (CCC). Research positively associates CCC to the benefits of student integration, learning, and retention in face-to-face environments. However, few studies have examined CCC in computer-mediated environments. This study provides empirical evidence of the relationships between key technological factors and CCC in cloud classrooms. A survey was administered to 641 college students, and the results indicate that four of the five technological factors examined were positively associated with CCC: advanced computer self-efficacy, program/software computer experience, Internet/entertainment computer experience, and computer importance. Basic computer self-efficacy was not related to CCC. These findings identify mechanisms that can improve CCC in cloud classrooms. Researchers and practitioners should use this knowledge to develop, implement, and assess the cloud classroom. In addition, this study contributes knowledge that can direct student training of digital literacies for improving the learning processes of cloud classrooms in higher education.

In recent years, a growing number of educational researchers are keen to utilize social network analysis (SNA) and emotion detection for exploring collective learning states. Students' emotions and interaction characteristics before the exam typically suggest some significant traces of learning states. In this study, data from the discussion forum of "Chinese legal history" course in a university learning platform was used to investigate evolutionary trends of students' network characteristics and emotion densities (EDs) in the last four weeks before the final exam, as well as visualized the distribution of the high-EDs (including positivity, negativity and confusion) students in the weekly network. Empirical analyses suggested that, as the exam approaches, learners' network structure and emotional densities are constantly changing. After experiencing a smooth change in the first two weeks, the average degree centrality reached a peak in the third week, and confusion emotional density far exceeded positive and negative emotional density in the last week, which may help in identifying the potential academic losers and providing timely interventions.

Resonance is generally used as a metaphor to describe the manner how the information from different sources is combined. Although it is an attractive and fundamental phenomenon in human behavior studies, most studies observed semantic resonances in well-controlled experimental settings at word level. To make up the missing link between word and document level resonances, we devoted our contributions to topic resonances in a novel and natural setting: academic commentaries. Ninety-three academic commentaries from ninety-three authors, along with their references and original papers, are analyzed by a latent Dirichlet allocation based natural language processing approach. This approach can decompose a corpus written and read by an author into several topics with different weights, which can reveal the phenomena ignored at word or document level. We found that (1) topic resonances commonly exist between commenters' fundamental input and output topics; (2) output words are re-allocated by commenters to echo salient input topics; (3) commenters are more prone to associate references which focus on the non-dominant input topics; and (4) topic resonance can even be predicted by a Hebbian-like model which matches the aforementioned findings. These findings will continue to enrich our understanding on the relationship among probe, feedback and context.

摘要:
Hypergeometric distribution is one of the most important mathematical models in probabilistic subjects, and also an integral part of the intelligent tutoring system based on automatic machine solving. In this paper, we propose a set of solutions to automatically solve the Hypergeometric distribution problems. Our method combines the syntactic and semantic information of the subject, establishes the matching rule between the topic narration and the type template, and implement the problem solving by establishing the solution formula corresponding to the topic, as well as extracting and complementing the corresponding problem data. Experiments conducted on a dataset which collected from the Internet and College Entrance Examination questions over the years demonstrate the feasibility of our method.

With the proposal of “China’s students’ development core qualities”, the new period puts forward higher requirements for students’ innovative spirit and practical ability. Problem solving, as one of the qualities needed for practical innovation, occupies an important position, and there is very little research on instructional design to improve student problem-solving skills from the perspective of teachers. At the same time, with the continuous development of new technologies such as big data and internet of things, teacher education must also follow the trend. Teachers need to think about how to reshape and grow professionally in the wave of education reform. This article selects a junior high school geography teacher as the research object and tries to construct a teaching design strategy that aims at the cultivation of students’ problem solving skills. There are situation-constructed strategy, task-driven strategy, and thinking-inspired strategy, and based on these strategies we create an aided analysis table and an teaching design evaluation scale, so as to provide valuable reference for teachers’ teaching design, and improve students’ problem-solving abilities.

Precise parallax detection through definition evaluation and the adjustment of the assembly position of the objective lens or the reticle are important means of eliminating the parallax of the telescope system, so that the imaging screen and the reticle are clearly focused at the same time. An adaptive definition evaluation function based on Susan-Zernike moments is proposed. First, the image is preprocessed by the Susan operator to find the potential boundary edge. Then, the Zernike moments operator is used to determine the exact region of the reticle line with sub-pixel accuracy. The image definition is evaluated only in this related area. The evaluation function consists of the gradient difference calculated by the Zernike moments operator. By adjusting the assembly position of the objective lens, the imaging screen and the reticle will be simultaneously in the state of maximum definition, so the parallax can be eliminated. The experimental results show that the definition evaluation function proposed in this paper has the advantages of good focusing performance, strong anti-interference ability compared with the other commonly used definition evaluation functions.

摘要:
This study describes an overview of the effects of flipped classroom instruction on students' learning outcomes and provides direction for future research on this topic. The Web of Science was used to search for research and 22 relevant articles were identified [1-22]. The content analysis method was employed to examine the selected articles. The results showed that flipped classroom instruction can positively influence students' cognitive, affective, and self-regulated learning. Flipping the classroom can not only practice students' problem-solving and independent study abilities, but also provide students with a positive attitude toward learning.

With the explosion of learning data in online educational platforms, many educators and researchers have developed a keen interest in learning analytics, in which social network analysis (SNA) and sentiment analysis are the two critical methods for exploring collective learning processes. In this study, we extracted textual data from the discussion forum of a "contract law" course in a university learning platform. We examined the differences in distributions of males and females in the overall sociogram. As well, through calculating learners' social characteristics and sentiment densities across a semester, we explored the relationship among social characteristics, sentiments and learning outcomes. The experimental results showed that females tended to be more active than males in forum interactions, and high-performing learners participated more actively in interactions than did low-performing learners. Moreover, there was a strong positive correlation between confusion and learning outcomes. As well, the learners who were involved actively in discussions were more likely to express the confused sentiment.

In this paper, we proposed a generative model for feature selection under the unsupervised learning context. The model assumes that data are independently and identically sampled from a finite mixture of Student's t distributions, which can reduce the sensitiveness to outliers. Latent random variables that represent the features' salience are included in the model for the indication of the relevance of features. As a result, the model is expected to simultaneously realize clustering, feature selection, and outlier detection. Inference is carried out by a tree-structured variational Bayes algorithm. Full Bayesian treatment is adopted in the model to realize automatic model selection. Controlled experimental studies showed that the developed model is capable of modeling the data set with outliers accurately. Furthermore, experiment results showed that the developed algorithm compares favorably against existing unsupervised probability model-based Bayesian feature selection algorithms on artificial and real data sets. Moreover, the application of the developed algorithm on real leukemia gene expression data indicated that it is able to identify the discriminating genes successfully.
