SALT: A multifeature ensemble learning framework for mapping urban functional zones from VGI data and VHR images

摘要：
Urban functional zone mapping is essential for providing deeper insights into urban morphology and improving urban planning. The emergence of Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI), which provides abundant semantic data, offers a great opportunity to enrich land use information extracted from remote sensing (RS) images. Taking advantage of very-high-resolution (VHR) images and VGI data, this work proposed a SATL multifeature ensemble learning framework for mapping urban functional zones that integrated 65 features from the shapes of building objects, attributes of points of interest (POIs) tags, locations of cellphone users and textures of VHR images. The dimensionality of SALT features was reduced by the autoencoder, and the compressed features were applied to train the ensemble learning model composed of multiple classifiers for optimizing the urban functional zone classification. The effectiveness of the proposed framework was tested in an urbanized region of Nanchang City. The results indicated that the SALT features considering population dynamics and building shapes are comprehensive and feasible for urban functional zone mapping. The autoencoder has been proven efficient for dimension reduction of the original SALT features as it significantly improves the classification of urban functional zones. Moreover, the ensemble learning outperforms other machine learning models in terms of the accuracy and robustness when dealing with multi-classification tasks. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd

摘要：
The large-scale soil spectral library (SSL) can provide abundant information for predicting soil properties at a local scale, especially in places lacking data. However, since all the existing large-scale SSLs only contain dry spectra recorded under laboratory conditions, the challenge remains in using SSL for predicting soil information using in situ soil spectra. Previous studies have focused on the methods of transforming in situ spectra to dry spectra when using SSLs, while few studies have compared which strategies are optimal in predicting soil properties. To determine the optimal strategies for predicting soil organic matter (SOM) from an area not located in the archived Chinese Soil Spectral Library (CSSL), we investigated the prediction accuracy of memory-based learning (MBL) using spectra transformed by external parameter orthogonalization (EPO) on the CSSL (MBL_EPO) and on the CSSL spiked with subset samples selected by the conditioned Latin hypercube (cLH) algorithm (MBL_EPO_spiking) and using the data from CSSL spiked directedly by the subset in situ samples (MBL_wet_spiking). We also evaluated the prediction accuracy of the in situ and dry spectra using the selected subset and the partial least squares regression (PLSR) model directly. The results showed that the mean squared Euclidean distance (msd) calculated from spectra was an optimal indicator for selecting the representative samples for both the laboratory and in situ conditions. When only 20 samples with both in situ and dry spectra are available to predict SOM, MBL_EPO_spiking is suggested; otherwise, MBL_wet_spiking with the spiking of in situ spectra determined by the smallest msd is optimal. Our findings pave the way for efficient SOM prediction in situ by integrating a large-scale SSL. © 2023 The Author(s)

摘要：
The development of self-driving tourism and automobile campgrounds depends on the construction of road infrastructure. In this study, we utilized aeronautical reconnaissance coverage geographic information system (ArcGIS), spatial analysis technology and accessibility model to quantitatively examine the accessibility and spatial pattern of automobile campgrounds in Beijing. Our findings reveal that Beijing's automobile campgrounds exhibit a circular distribution pattern, with decreasing accessibility from the center to the periphery areas. The overall accessibility maintains high-level road directivity, with an average travel time to automobile campgrounds ranging from 0.028 to 3.37 h. Access to automobile campgrounds is higher in the central and southern-central regions compared to the northwest and southwest regions, highlighting a highly unbalanced spatial pattern of accessibility. Finally, we provide suggestions for optimizing the accessibility of automobile campgrounds in Beijing based on our research. © 2023

摘要：
Information on crop yield is important for food security, in particular under the conditions of climate change and growing population worldwide. We developed a new fully distributed, high spatial resolution, model of biomass accumulation and crop yield applicable to a highly heterogeneous desert-oasis agroecosystem. The bulk of required input data is obtained by retrieving pixel-wise biogeophysical variables from a suite of very diverse satellite data. Both temperature and water stress conditions at field-scale are given full consideration, while the model was designed to strike a balance between model applicability and satisfactory characterization of the heterogeneous desert-oasis system to estimate field-scale yield. The development of this model relies on three main innovations. First, the start and end of the growing season were estimated for each pixel by calibrating the high spatial and temporal resolution observations of Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) by Sentinal-2 (S2) MSI (Multi-Spectral Instrument) against limited local phenological information. Second, to monitor crop water stress, account taken of irrigation, a process-based water and energy balance model was applied to estimate the actual evapotranspiration (ET). This requires knowledge of soil water availability, which is characterized by downscaling the ASCAT (Advanced SCATterrometer) soil moisture data product. To capture the dominant features of the eco-hydrological conditions in the desert and oasis agroecosystem, ET was further downscaled from the 1 km resolution. Third, likewise the water stress indicator, the air temperature stress indicator was mapped after characterizing the thermal contrast and heterogeneity of the desert-oasis system, by generating time series of air temperature at 1 km spatial resolution using the MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) Land Surface Temperature (LST) data product. In the temporal dimension, gaps were mitigated by applying time series analysis techniques to reconstruct cloud-free time series of LST, NDVI, fAPAR and albedo. These innovations add up to a high resolution characterization of crop response to the geospatial variability of weather and climate forcing in the desert-oasis agroecosystem. The model was applied to the dominant crops, i.e., spring wheat, maize, sunflower, and melon, in the oases of the Shiyang River Basin (northwestern China) characterized by a rather fragmented land use. The high resolution of pixel-wise ecohydrological parameters, i.e., crop phenology, temperature stress and water stress factors successfully reflect differences of crops with different phenology and location in the oases. The relative errors for wheat and maize yields compared to the census data are less than 5% at district level. At the county level, the relative errors of wheat yields of Liangzhou, Minqin, Gulang, Jinchuan, and Yongchang equal to 0.87%, 24.2%, 9.7%, 12.5%, and 7.2%. For maize, the dominant crop, the error on estimated yields was less than 5%, except in Gulang. The relative error on estimated yield for sunflower was less than 10% compared to agricultural census data. The relative error on estimated melon yield was 16%. This performance highlights the applicability of the model to estimate field-scale yields in agroecosystems characterized by fragmented land use. © 2022

摘要：
Data-driven surrogate modeling has been increasingly employed for flooding simulation of urban drainage systems (UDSs) due to its high computational efficiency and accuracy. However, spatial autocorrelation is prevalent in many typical scenarios, including the UDS. This omission of spatial information is very likely to cause the machine learning model to capture the wrong UDS overflow mechanism from the data. To capture the spatial autocorrelation, an artificial neural network (ANN)-based surrogate modeling method that introduces spatial lag to account for the spatial autocorrelation of flooding within the UDS is proposed and coupled with a genetic algorithm (GA) to reduce the uncertainty caused by random initialization of ANN. In this study, a surrogate modeling experiment was carried out for the Storm Water Management Model (SWMM). The experimental results show that the ANN can successfully capture the spatial autocorrelation induced by flooding within the UDS and accurately replicate the output simulated by SWMM. © 2023

摘要：
The El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is one of the main factors causing extreme climate events and, thus, has a significant influence on global climate systems. However, the long-term effects of ENSO on vegetation are not well understood due to the complexity of the ENSO phenomenon under global warming. Here, we examined the variations in the response of Leaf Area Index (LAI) to different types of ENSO from 1982 to 2017 in the west Pacific region and explored their relationship with climatic factors. Results show that about 34.5% of the vegetated area in the west Pacific region displayed LAI anomalies correlated with ENSO index from 1982 to 2017, which distributed differently across climatic types. Moreover, LAI anomalies elicited by the Central-Pacific type and by the Eastern-Pacific type of ENSO events were significantly different, which were contributed to the controls of the different types of ENSO on precipitation and temperature. © 2022. 摘要：
Rapid urbanization has exacerbated land use transformation, which in turn has affected ecosystem service value (ESV). Clarifying the spatial association between land use change (LUC) and ESV is of relevance to the development of policies for sustainable land development and ecosystem service (ES) management. In this paper, taking Hubei Province as an example, the biomass coefficient, resource scarcity coefficient and socioeconomic adjustment coefficient are introduced to improve the ESV assessment model, and then the spatiotemporal dynamics of land use and ESV from 2000 to 2020 are analyzed. Furthermore, the coupling coordination degree (CCD) between land use intensity and ESV was explored through a CCD model. The results show that (1) land use in Hubei Province changed significantly from 2000 to 2020, mainly in cropland and built-up land. (2) The change in ESV showed a fluctuating upward trend, with an increase of 71.30%, and the spatial differences generally decreased, showing a spatial pattern of 'low in the center and high in the surroundings'. (3) All individual ESVs first decreased and then increased, with regulating services and supporting services contributing more to ESV and hydrological regulation, maintenance of biodiversity and soil conservation being the top three ecosystem functions with high service value. (4) The CCD between ESV and land use intensity in Hubei Province and its cities (prefecture and forest area) decreased and then increased, being at the lowest and highest values in 2005 and 2020, respectively. This paper revealed the spatiotemporal evolution process of LUC and ESV in Hubei Province and their coupling coordinated relationship, which can provide effective guidance for the formulation of interzonal ES maintenance policies to reconcile the conflicts between land use and ecosystem management. © 2022 The Authors

随着整体科学的进步和国家社会的发展，地理科学已迈入跨学科交叉融合发展的新阶段。通过学科间和领域间的深度融合寻求新发展路径，完善知识体系，充分发挥服务国家社会之功能，是当前地理科学发展的当务之急。本文基于自然科学基金视角，分析了中国地理科学融合发展的现状与问题，认为其与国际前沿未充分接轨，研究的全球政治、经济、文化影响力有待加强，认为地理科学融合国家重大需求进行理论与技术创新的能力有待提升，认为学科内部体系要根据知识融合需求进一步优化。在此基础上，提出了资助政策引导下地理科学面向世界科技前沿的学科交叉融合、面向国家重大战略的多领域交叉融合和面向申请代码优化布局的分支学科交叉三大融合发展路径与相应政策工具。未来国家自然科学基金委员会将立足于保持学科发展的持续性和稳定性，通过政策创新来激励地理科学与其它学科、领域的交叉融合，以建设更具有活力与创新性的学术生态系统。

摘要：
China’s territorial development is subject to multiple influences in new political, social, and economic contexts. In an era of increased globalization and urbanization, the construction of protected areas (PAs) as part of globalization has had a “double-edged sword” effect on China’s rural development; their impact has left a deep imprint on rural development, and understanding their relationship helps to achieve multiple goals. This paper discusses the changes in the urban–town–village system in the region where the Gaoligong Mountain Nature Reserve is located in China and attempts to analyze the impact of PAs on rural shrinkage. We found that the institutional embedding of PAs as a policy tool has led to regional differentiation and village shrinkage and expansion. Secondly, PAs stimulate changes in evolutionary paths in different types of villages by common forces through demographic, factor, capital, and policy constraints or incentives; however, the formation of new industrial spaces of ecotourism has a damping effect. We conclude that the embedding of PAs has led to a reconfiguration of spatial rights and capital in regional development, changing the original path of rural development. Adaptive development strategies must be established to safeguard this in future development. © 2022 by the authors.

形状识别是地图空间认知的重要内容之一,结合有效的形状特征向量提取方法和空间认知试验的神经网络方法是提高形状识别的有效途径。本文构建了一种融合了圆形度、偏心率和矩形度等宏观形状特征参量的傅里叶形状描述子作为形状特征向量的神经网络建筑多边形状识别器。首先,利用傅里叶变换和计算几何方法分别提取建筑多边形的傅里叶形状描述子及圆形度、偏心率、矩形度参量,并组成形状特征向量。然后,通过样本数据的训练实现了建筑多边形与形状模板之间匹配的神经网络识别器。结果表明,本文方法相较于以往的方法大幅度提高了精度(达到98.7%),而且特征提取算法不受多边形点数不一致的限制。通过对武汉、郑州两大城市的真实建筑物数据进行形状识别,证实该方法具有较好的识别效果。

摘要：
掌握土壤在空间和时间上的表征至关重要。 土壤可见-近红外(Vis-NIR)光谱可以估算土壤有机碳(SOC)等属性, 与传统的实验室理化分析相比, 光谱技术能有效实现土壤信息的快速获取。 土壤光谱库为建立经验模型提供了大量具有丰富变异性和多样性的样本作数据基础。 但受限于库中土壤样本的异质性和模型的适应性, 通常区域或局部尺度模型的稳健性欠佳。 已有的研究主要通过目标样本部分入库的方式改善库的性能, 但影响了光谱技术的低成本优势。 该研究在不入库的前提下基于土壤光谱的相异度, 探究经典距离算法结合土壤光谱库构建局部预测模型的可行性, 并比较分析局部模型样本容量对预测精度的响应。 基于全球土壤光谱库(GSSL)的677个土柱, 从每个国家随机取十分之一的土柱(97个)组成局部目标测试集(Test), 其余580个作土壤光谱库(SSL)。 分别采用欧氏距离(ED)、 马氏距离(MD)、 和光谱角(SAM)来分别度量Test与SSL间的光谱相异度并生成距离矩阵。 按距离矩阵的前0.04%, 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.4%, 0.5%, 1%和5%从SSL中提取与Test最相似的光谱样本构建共计9个容量的局部建模集(Local), 使用偏最小二乘回归(PLSR)建立Vis-NIR和SOC含量的预测模型并通过Test验证模型精度, 通过光谱的主成分空间考察并解释各种距离算法下Local的“容量-精度”变化。 结果表明, 在待测样本不入库的情况下, 三种距离算法构建的Local模型相较于全局模型的预测精度均有一定提升, 但三者的“容量-精度”的拐点存在显著差异。 SAM兼顾了光谱的波形和幅度因此较MD、 ED更具优势; 其前0.2%比例的Local不仅预测精度最优, 且用于建模所需的样本容量最少。 因此认为, SAM法更适用于从土壤光谱库中构建局部模型, 距离矩阵的前0.2%可作为局部模型的容量参考。

摘要：
Under the influence of local planning and policy implementation, the transformation of regional land-use types leads to an increasing strain on limited land resources and frequent conflicts between various land-use types. However, so far, only a few studies have combined these two in an in-depth analysis. In this study, the CLUMondo model was adopted in Enshi Prefecture, a typical city in the central mountain region of China, to predict the land use pattern under the scenarios of natural development (NGS), economic development (EDS), and ecological security (ESS) in 2025 according to different development priority policies. Furthermore, the indicator model of landscape pattern and ecological risk effects was constructed to identify land use conflicts (LUCs) under multiple scenarios, revealing their spatial distribution, level of conflict, and change characteristics. The results of the study indicate that under the scenarios led by three different development priority policies, the accelerated growth and outward expansion of the built-up land area will occupy a large amount of grassland and cultivated land. The goal of synergistic economic development and ecological environmental protection is achieved only under the ESS. The indicator model classified LUCs in Enshi Prefecture into four levels. The performance and changes of LUCs under different scenarios have their characteristics. The overall performance in order from bad to good is as follows: the NGS > the EDS > the ESS. Therefore, it is necessary to set up differentiated development policies and governance measures based on regional development's current situation and vision to balance different land use needs. The indicator model and simulation method used in this study can effectively reflect the actual status and potential risks of land use in ecologically fragile mountainous areas in China, and provide theoretical basis and technical support for the optimal management of future development and formulation of ecological environmental protection policies in Enshi Prefecture. © 2022 The Authors

摘要：
Context: As urbanization continues, ecosystem stability faces serious challenges. Ecological security patterns have become a main tool with which the contradictions between economic development and ecological security can be alleviated and even solved. Objective: In this study, ecological patches were identified based on ecosystem services, and ecological corridors were derived using a minimum cumulative resistance model. We analyzed the importance and connectivity of ecological corridors using a gravity model and the probability of connectivity index and identified key restoration and protection areas. Results: The results show that (1) 72 ecological patches were identified in Jingmen, and important patches were distributed in the western mountainous areas of Jingmen. (2) The corridor connectivity in Jingmen needs to be improved. The 71 ecological corridors with the lowest cumulative resistance were identified; these corridors were mainly concentrated in mountainous areas, forest parks, and wetland parks. Conclusion: We suggested 100–200 m as the ecological corridor width in Jingmen, as this width could balance the economic development, ecological conservation, and food security priorities. We identified 15 priority protection areas and 11 priority restoration areas that urgently require reasonable ecological restoration in Jingmen. This construction of an ecological security pattern in Jingmen provides a scientific reference for urban ecological planning and urban spatial layout planning and achieves a win–win situation in which both smart urban growth and ecological protection can be realized. © 2022

建筑物化简是地图制图领域关注的热点问题之一。集成不同算法构建形状特征自适应的化简模型是应对建筑物多样化形态的有效策略,但当前相关研究主要从局部结构模式或化简结果评价展开,缺乏对形状结构的整体分析视角和深层次认知。本文提出一种深度学习支持下的形状自适应建筑物化简方法。首先,利用图卷积自编码网络对建筑物形状进行深度认知,提取隐含在边界节点分布中的形状特征并进行编码表达;然后,通过监督学习方法建立形状编码与化简算法之间的映射关系,从而实现依据输入建筑物的形状特征选择适宜化简算法的自适应机制。试验表明,本文方法的化简结果在位置、方向、面积和形状保持指标上总体优于单一算法,具备较好的理论与应用价值。

摘要：
为探讨襄州区重金属空间格局时空变化及其来源变化,于2009年11月和2019年11月分别在襄州区耕地土壤采集395个和326个土壤样品,测得两年铬(Cr)、铅(Pb)、砷(As)、汞(Hg)和镉(Cd)含量,采用经验贝叶斯克里金法(EBK)得出两年5种土壤重金属含量空间格局情况及变化量分布情况,并利用地理探测器模型(GDM)计算19种环境因子和5种重金属含量q解释力并比较两年变化情况.结果表明,与2009年相比, 2019年襄州区Cr、Pb、Hg和As这4种土壤重金属含量整体趋于降低,Cd整体含量增加; 2019年襄州区土壤重金属含量空间分异情况较2009年趋于复杂,Pb、Hg和Cd在南部、Hg在中部市区及周边地区也表现为含量增加;各元素向北及西北部地区表现为含量降低. 2019年自然因子和污染企业距离对5种土壤重金属含量单因子解释力均有所下降,且单因子主控下对其含量的影响力显著性降低,而人类活动因子尤其是居民点用地距离、道路距离、污染企业用地和环境因子对土壤重金属元素的叠加影响力增强.说明2019年土壤重金属来源变化由以结构性因素为主要影响因素趋于复杂,污染企业的排放对重金属元素影响力降低,而人类活动对重金属含量影响增加.

摘要：
城市土地利用变化模拟是优化土地资源配置的科学依据，提高其精细化程度和可靠性有助于准确把握城市用地发展趋势，对城市土地资源精准调控具有重要意义。基于宏观遥感分类的土地利用变化模拟，难以在街区尺度上揭示城市用地社会功能变化及精细化模拟中空间尺度效应来源和作用机理。本文联合遥感影像和POI数据识别出城市土地利用精细化特征，运用响应面法率定土地利用精细化模拟的最优空间尺度组合，在此基础上，利用CA-Markov模型开展了未来土地利用变化的精细化模拟。以武汉市中心城区为应用案例，研究结果表明：基于POI的城市土地利用精细化识别方法，可以深度解析城市建设用地的社会功能，极大改善了传统基于遥感的土地覆被宏观解译效果；研究区土地利用变化元胞自动机精细化模拟的最优空间尺度组合是30 m元胞、7×7邻域以及冯诺依曼邻域类型，采用最优空间尺度组合能够提高土地利用变化精细化模拟的可靠性。响应面试验设计结果可有效识别精细化模拟过程中空间尺度效应的主要来源，并区分其对模拟精度的影响程度与正负效应；预计到2025年，研究区建设用地范围将继续向周边扩张，各类型用地之间互为交织，土地利用空间格局将呈更加破碎化趋势。

摘要：
在城市群越来越演化为多尺度、多区域复杂系统背景下，有必要引入多分形理论与方法研究其空间结构。本文基于2018年NPP-VIIRS夜间灯光数据，计算长江中游城市群整体及其局部的多分维谱，根据谱线分析不同尺度下长江中游城市空间结构的多分形特征。结果显示：（1）长江中游城市群夜间灯光容量维在整体和局部都出现双标度现象。（2） q ＜-5.5时，整体广义关联维谱线突破理论上限2，在q＞ 0时，武汉城市圈和环长株潭城市群的分维显著较高。（3）整体的局部分维谱和武汉城市圈、环长株潭城市群、环鄱阳湖城市群、宜荆荆城市群局部分维谱表现为单峰偏右。根据上述结果，得到和验证了以下结论：（1）长江中游城市群区域一体化程度较低。（2）长江中游城市群不同层级和区域的空间结构差异显著，呈现出多尺度复杂特征。（3）长江中游城市群在不同尺度中均倾向于中心集聚式发展。研究揭示多分形模型能够从尺度依赖视角有效揭示巨型城市群空间结构的复杂性及其背后的问题，具有很好的理论探索和实践分析前景。

摘要：
Simulation of changes in ecosystem service value (ESV) caused by land use change in Wuhan under multiple scenarios is of great significance for ensuring urban ecological security and enhancing regional ecosystem service values. The city of Wuhan was selected as the study area, and the changes in land use and ESV in Wuhan over the past 31 years were analyzed and calculated based on five-phase remote sensing images and statistical yearbooks for 1990, 1998, 2006, 2014 and 2021. On this basis, the CA-Markov model and the multi objective planning (MOP) model were used to simulate the land use change in the study area in 2040 under four scenarios (natural development scenario, cultivated land protection scenario, ecological protection scenario and urban development scenario), and the total ESV was estimated under each scenario. The total value of ecosystem services was estimated under each scenario, and grid tools were applied to visualize the spatial distribution and degree of aggregation of ecosystem services. The results show that: (1) The most obvious feature of land use change in Wuhan from 1990 to 2021 is the sharp reduction in arable land area and the rapid expansion of build-up land area. Over the past 31 years, the arable land area decreased by 78322.4 hm2, and the build-up land area increased by 52559.28 hm2. (2) From 1990 to 2021, Wuhan's total ESV at the five timepoints (1990, 1998, 2006, 2014, 2021) was 74.554 billion yuan, 71.512 billion yuan, 69.632 billion yuan, 73.433 billion yuan and 68.548 billion yuan, respectively. Overall, there has been a downward trend in volatility. (3) Under the four scenarios, the ESV in 2040 is projected to be 72.777 billion yuan, 70.969 billion yuan, 74.097 billion yuan or 70.620 billion yuan, respectively. Among them, the ecological protection scenario is the optimal simulation choice. (4) The cold and hot spots of ESV show an aggregated distribution over a large area, with the hot spots mainly concentrated in the central and southeastern parts of Wuhan and the cold spots mainly located in the northeastern and northwestern portions of Wuhan. Simulating the future land use change trends in Wuhan and exploring the responses of ecosystem service values under various scenarios are conducive to the construction of a new pattern of urban land space development and protection and can provide a scientific basis and a reference for decision-making for comprehensively promoting the sustainable development of Wuhan and other metropolitan areas in China in the future. © 2022 The Author(s)

摘要：
This paper explores the influence of the real-world urban attributes on the information flow among cities. UCINET was used to analyze the evolution of the spatial structure of information flow (SSIF). The Geodetector is applied to identify the spatial stratified correlation between the SSIF and urban attributes. The authors choose indicators such as economy, scale and facilities as background indicators. Furthermore, based on the textual categorization of the Baidu urban demand map, we selected the factors that people search more frequently as the direct factors. We conduct empirical analysis with the middle reaches of the Yangtze River urban agglomeration (MYUA) as a typical case. Our results show that the gap between cities is gradually decreasing in the information flow space. In the initial stage, the dominant factors affecting information flow network are mostly background factors. With the development of infrastructure and the increase in internet users, the density of information network is gradually increasing, and the structure of urban network tends to flatten. Direct factors gradually become the dominant factor affecting the evolution of network.
