In this paper, we explore the capabilities of a number of deep neural network models in generating whole-brain 3T-like MR images from clinical 1.5T MRIs. The models include a fully convolutional network (FCN) method and three state-of-the-art super-resolution solutions, ESPCN [26], SRGAN [17] and PRSR [7]. The FCN solution, U-Convert-Net, carries out mapping of 1.5T-to-3T slices through a U-Net-like architecture, with 3D neighborhood information integrated through a multi-view ensemble. The pros and cons of the models, as well the associated evaluation metrics, are measured with experiments and discussed in depth. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first work to evaluate multiple deep learning solutions for whole-brain MRI conversion, as well as the first attempt to utilize FCN/U-Net-like structure for this purpose.

Infectious diseases are currently the most important and widespread health problem, and identifying viral infection mechanisms is critical for controlling diseases caused by highly infectious viruses. Because of the lack of non-interactive protein pairs and serious imbalance between positive and negative sample ratios, the supervised learning algorithm is not suitable for prediction. At the same time, due to the lack of information on viral proteins and significant dissimilarity in sequence, some ensemble learning models have poor generalization ability. In this paper, we propose a Sequence-Based Ensemble Learning (Seq-BEL) method to predict the potential virus-human PPIs. Specifically, based on the amino acid sequence of proteins and the currently known virus-human PPI network, Seq-BEL calculates various features and similarities of human proteins and viral proteins, and then combines these similarities and features to score the potential of virus-human PPIs. The computational results show that Seq-BEL achieves success in predicting potential virus-human PPIs and outperforms other state-of-the-art methods. More importantly, Seq-BEL also has good predictive performance for new human proteins and new viral proteins. In addition, the model has the advantages of strong robustness and good generalization ability, and can be used as an effective tool for virus-human PPI prediction.

Because posting on Sina Weibo has become the most popular and quickest way for spreading emergent news. However, meanwhile, the relevant management departments are obliged to deal with emergencies’ information on social media within a short time. Therefore, predicting the propagation effect of emergency microblog entries can help management departments find out the probable coming problems in time, and also improve the predictability of decision-making. In this paper, a method of predicting the propagation effect toward entries of main emergencies released by official media is proposed which has rarely been studied. We measure the propagation effect of emergency microblog entries from their repost, comment and favorite counts. In order to reach the target, user profiles, text features, interactive attributes were first extracted and verified separately. With these filtered multi-features, an improved model based on random forest is then constructed, trained and tested for predicting the publics’ interactive behaviors on Sina Weibo dataset. The results in our experiment demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm compared with most existing models.

Congestion results in dissipation of the node's energy, deterioration of network performance and an increase in time delay and packet loss. By applying water-level control to queue length control, this paper presented a hop-to-hop congestion control model between link-layer and network-layer in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). In addition, a reaching-law-based discrete sliding mode control algorithm (DSMC) was proposed to balance the inflows and outflows of node's frame buffer. The simulation results in MATLAB show that the proposed DSMC is more robust to tolerate external interference, more adaptive to the change of queue length and more rapidly convergent than other traditional approaches, which effectively avoids network congestion and transmission delay.

As a promising technology to achieve perpetual operation of battery-powered wireless sensor devices, wireless power transfer has attracted much attention recently. In wireless power transfer, the charger enables the energy to be wirelessly transmitted to the rechargeable sensor devices that are hungry for energy. Previous works mainly focus on maximizing the charging utility or minimizing the charging delay. This paper concerns a more practical issue of placing wireless chargers, which aims at minimizing the deployment cost of chargers while satisfying the overall requirement for charging utility. We investigate the above cost-minimum charger placement problem under two typical scenarios in which omni chargers and directional chargers are used, respectively. To resolve this problem under the two charging models, we first prove its NP-hardness and then propose two approximation algorithms with proven performance guarantees. Finally, we conduct extensive simulation experiments to validate our designs, and the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms significantly outperform the baselines.

Long non-coding RNA (1ncRNA) has a close relationship with multiple biological processes and complex diseases. Generally speaking, it functions through the interaction with corresponding RNA-binding proteins. However, it is costly and time-consuming to use experimental methods to detect IncRNA-protein interactions. Network-based prediction methods have been developed recently, but very few methods consider the integration of multiple features and the non-linear relationship of IncRNAs (proteins). In this paper, we propose a kernel-based soft-neighborhood propagation algorithm (LKSNS) to predict the potential 1ncRNA-protein interactions. The method not only makes use of the non-neighborhood information, but also excavates the potential non-linear relationship. We compare LKSNS with other state-of-the-art methods based on multiple datasets and the results show that LKSNS has significantly better prediction performance. The case study further demonstrates that the LKSNS has the good practicality for 1ncRNA-protein interaction prediction.

摘要:
Low-rank tensor completion has attracted much interest in many applications such as image processing, data mining and machine learning. A widely used method is to minimize the sum of nuclear norms of unfolding matrices of a tensor. In this paper, we study a accelerated alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) for solving the sum of nuclear norms of unfolding matrices of a tensor. The basic idea of accelerated ADMM is to incorporate a multistep acceleration scheme into the classical ADMM. We design efficient implementations of the algorithm and present its convergence result. Extensive numerical examples on both random and real world data are presented to validate the superiority of our proposed algorithm over class ADMM.

Studies have shown that microRNAs are functionally related to human diseases. However, experimental methods for detecting miRNA-disease associations are both time consuming and laborious. Therefore, a large number of computational models for predicting potential miRNA-disease interaction have been proposed. However, few methods take into account the nonlinear structural similarity of miRNAs (diseases) and effectively integrate multiple similar metrics into one network. In this paper, we propose a kernel-based soft-neighborhood network propagation algorithm (LKSNF) to predict potential miRNA-disease interactions, which not only exploits the potential nonlinear relationship, but also effectively integrates different similar measures of miRNA (disease). The results of the 5-fold cross-validation show that the LKSNF model has significantly better predictive performance than other state-of-the-art methods. Case study further illustrates the effectiveness of LKSNF in predicting new miRNA-disease interactions.

A self-affine set T = T(A; D) the attractor of an affine pair (A, D) where A is an expanding matrix on R-s with integral entries, and D subset of Z(s) is a finite set; T is called a self-affine tile if it is also a tile, and call such D a tile digit set. In this survey, we review some recent developments on the structure and characterizations of the tile digit sets D for a given A. We also discuss the celebrated Fuglede's spectral set problem on the self-affine tiles.

In this chapter, we study the inverse problem on recovering a spatial component of the source term in a wave equation by the final observation data. Employing the analytic Fredholm theory , we establish a generic well-posedness result concerning the uniqueness of our inverse source problem . Numerically, by treating a corresponding minimization problem, we investigate the variational equation for the minimizer and develop an iterative thresholding algorithm . One- and two-dimensional numerical experiments are implemented to demonstrate the robustness and accuracy of the proposed algorithm.

摘要:
We study multi-influence competing in social networks. First we propose Timeliness Independent Cascade (TIC) model - a natural multi-influence propagation model. Second we propose FairInf problem: given several companies and their budgets, how to choose their separated seeds such that the overall influence spread is maximized and each individual company’s influence spread is fairly distributed. Third, we prove that when seeds for other companies are fixed, a company’s influence spread is monotone and submodular, which means greedy algorithm has the ratio of \((1-1/e)\). We design a greedy algorithm MG which runs quickly. At last, we conduct extensive experiments on real world social networks of different scales, and evaluate that our algorithm achieves the design goal.

摘要:
In this paper, an SEIR epidemic model for an imperfect treatment disease with age-dependent latency and relapse is proposed. The model is well-suited to model tuberculosis. The basic reproduction number R-0 is calculated. We obtain the global behavior of the model in terms of R-0. If R-0 < 1, the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable, whereas if R-0 > 1, a Lyapunov functional is used to show that the endemic equilibrium is globally stable amongst solutions for which the disease is present.

We consider the following nonlinear fractional scalar field equation (-Δ)su + u = K(|x|)up, u > 0 in ℝN, where K(|x|) is a positive radial function, N ≥ 2, 0 < s < 1, and 1 < p < N+2s/N-2s. Under various asymptotic assumptions on K(x) at infinity, we show that this problem has infinitely many non-radial positive solutions and sign-changing solutions, whose energy can be made arbitrarily large.
