电影接受史是电影史研究中一个被人们长期忽视而有待深入挖掘的研究领域。它深受受众研究传统的影响，主张将观众的审美经验纳入电影史的研究视野。它与现有的电影美学史、电影批评史、电影传播史、电影观众史等研究领域在研究对象、研究视角、研究内容和研究方法等方面均存在明显区别。电影接受史研究应从接受主体、接受对象、接受时间、接受语境等多方面切入，综合考察观众对电影的接受情况。它不仅可以弥补传统电影史的不足，还能开拓一片新的研究领域，为电影史研究提供新的学术生长点。
