“生活·实践”教育是在继承陶行知创立的生活教育学说的基础上，根据时代、社会和教育的实际情况而做出的再生性阐述。“新时代小先生行动”孕育于中国教育发展新阶段，面向基础教育阶段学生，是对陶行知先生推行的“小先生制”的传承与转化，也是当前乃至未来在全国各地中小学宣传推广“生活·实践”教育的有效途径之一。“新时代小先生行动”应当聚焦发展学生核心素养，在中小学开展“新时代小先生”系列活动，开设“生活·实践”教育研究专栏，使教育适应时代需求，培养具有生活力、实践力、学习力、自主力、合作力和创造力的时代新人。
