以胡适、俞平伯、康白情、刘半农、刘大白、周作人为代表的白话新诗派为早期白话新诗的理论建设和文学实践开辟了一条“真实”的道路。白话新诗派在内容写实、情感真挚、艺术真实三个层面对新诗进行了积极的理论探讨和创作尝试。“真实”作为诗歌创作的美学原则，同时也成为诗歌价值的评判标准。在“真实”诗学观的引导下，白话新诗派开拓了新诗的题材和类型，丰富了新诗的文化资源，积累了新诗的创作经验。总结归纳白话新诗派的“真实”诗学观，对厘清白话新诗派的诗学理论，梳理新诗理论的发展脉络，探索具有时代特色的当代诗歌理论具有重要意义。
