Revegetation is effective in improving soil quality in ecologically fragile areas. However, little is known about the impact of diverse phytomanagement strategies of tailings on soil quality and ecological security in erosion-prone areas. We investigated the water stability, soil aggregate nutrients, and the risk of heavy metal contamination of abandoned tailings under phytomanagement and in adjacent bare land on the Loess Plateau.
