当前资本主义发展阶段问题是国外共产党在党纲中予以关注的重大理论和现实问题。国外共产党运用马克思列宁主义基本原理，根据世界经济政治发展的新变化和本国国情，对当前资本主义发展至何种阶段进行了新探索。大多数国外共产党延续了竞争与垄断的分析框架，也有部分政党突破了原有分析范式，从空间形式、工业技术、生态环保、文化伦理视角出发提出了一些新论断，总体呈现出当前资本主义发展阶段“变”与“不变”两种态度。国外共产党对当前资本主义发展阶段的认识，对洞悉资本主义的本质和发展趋势，以及制定争取社会主义斗争的战略策略意义重大，但是有的观点是否合理还值得进一步商榷。
