It has been previously found that individuals with internet gaming disorder (IGD) have a negative bias in recognizing facial micro-expressions (MEs). However, the underlying psychological mechanisms of this negative bias remain unknown. According to the signal detection theory (SDT), sensitivity to and response criterion for facial expressions may contribute to the explanation of this negative bias.
