Formaldehyde (FA), a major industrial chemical and ubiquitous environmental pollutant, has been classified as a leukemogen. The causal relationship remains unclear, however, due to limited evidence that FA induces toxicity in bone marrow, the site of leukemia induction, and in other distal organs.
