Discussion on the two English versions of My Everlasting Dream and Pursuit from the perspective of discourse analysis

《永远的憧憬和追求》是萧红的一篇著名小传，语言真朴通俗，却意韵悠远。试从语篇分析的角度，从主述位切分、经验功能、人际功能三方面对比评析刘士聪和张培基的英译文，旨在说明，即使是文学翻译，从语篇分析这一角度“照来的光”也有助于评者发现传统感想式、印象式评判中易被忽视的问题，而且，处理翻译难点时，译者如运用语篇分析的方法，有时会得到意想不到的帮助。

My Everlasting Dream and Pursuit is a brief autobiography by Xiao Hong, well-known for its simple, unadorned language and long-lasting artistic charm. This paper studies Prof. LIU Shicong＇s and Prof. ZHANG Peiji＇s English translations of this essay from a discourse analysis approach in terms of theme - rheme division of the sentence, experiential metafunction and interpersonal metafunction.
