Phosphorus (P) is one of the essential nutrient elements for plant growth and development because of its low availability and mobility in soil. To investigate genes which are involved in Pi starvation response in leaves and roots of Brassica napus, a survey of genes induced in Pi starvation was done by macroarray analysis. Among 3,000 cDNA clones, 94 genes were identified to be up-regulated, while 46 genes were detected to be down-regulated by Pi starvation in B. napus.
