Retroposition, a molecular mechanism generating new genes, helps the formation of retrogenes and new functions, contributing to the evolution of genomes. The completed genome sequence of Caenorhabditis sp. 5 presents an excellent opportunity to identify retrogenes within C. sp. 5.
