Lead iodide (PbI2) films composed of single crystals with regular hexagonal microstructures have been in situ fabricated on lead foils through a one-step solution-phase chemical route under solvothermal conditions. X-Ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were employed to characterize the resulting PbI2 crystals.
