1956年“双百”方针的提出及贯彻执行给文艺界带来了较为宽松的政治环境,一批具有艺术探索价值的文学作品相继问世。这就是所谓的“百花时代”。其中,一批描写爱情家庭生活的小说由于运用了“反讽”这一特殊的言说方式而显示出丰富的生活底蕴和审美内涵,使泛政治语境下的文学创作透露出生机与活力。“百花小说”的反讽主要有三种类型：视点反讽、语调反讽、客观反讽。反讽造成了语意的含混,扩大了文本的审美空间,也体现了作家对于人的生存状态的关怀和思考。

The proposing and implementing of ＂double hundred guideline＂ brought a relatively loose and comfortable political environment to the literature field. A set of literary works that are valuable in artistic exploration were published successively. This period is called ＂hundred blossoms＂ period .
