Quarrel Between Philosophy and Poetry:The Conflict and Integration of Educational Views in The Republic

本文运用解释学方法,以"诗哲之争"为切入点,分析了《理想国》中教育观的冲突和融合。研究发现:《理想国》中诗哲之争的背后是教育的主导权之争、正统的正义观之争,而本质上是人的欲望和理性之争。这种理性和欲望之争一直是西方教育传统的主线,但柏拉图为解决理情的颉颃而提出的教育方案存在固有缺陷,会导致理性对欲望的专制。因此,本文提出教育要超越理性和情感的对峙,以理性为指引,以情感为动力,基于学生在生活中获得的经验,培养他们形成社会认知、理解社会情感、改造社会的行动能力。

This paper analyzes the conflict and fusion of educational views in The Republic by using the hermeneutic method and starting from the"quarrel between philosophy and poetry".It is found that:behind the quarrel between philosophy and poetry in The Republic is the dispute over the dominant power of education and the orthodox view of justice,but in essence it is the dispute between human desire and rationality.This kind of dispute between reason and desire has always been the main line of western educational tradition,but Plato’s educational plan...
