With the molecular hydrophobic feature represented by Van der Waals molecular volume, the-hydrophilic parameter of substituting groups in mono-substituted benzenes was determined, in order to predict the retention of substituted benzenes in RP-HPLC. Thus it is possible to predict the retention of multi-functional substituted benzenes.
