Three novel bis(tetraphenylethene) (BTPE) derivatives 1–3 were efficiently synthesized. All the materials exhibited aggregation-induced emission characteristics, and the dynamic light scattering measurments proved that the average diameter of the oxidised analogues 2 and 3 was less than that of the thioether precursor 1 due to the oxidation of the linking S-atom.
