Two precious historical materials about the relationship between stone throwing and Zhong Kui(Kwai)were discovered from the commentaries on Japanese Buddhist scriptures,which were recorded by the monks Ming Kuang and Fajin in the Middle Tang Dynasty.Through the analysis of these two new historical materials,it is shown that stone throwing was a kind of etiquette activity in the early period.With the development of history,it gradually evolved into a“fighting stone”activity with folk custom characteristics.It is speculated that Zhong Kui(Kwai)...
