我国古代,"缶"为生活器具,又用为乐器.本文的讨论包括作为陶瓦器类名的"缶"、"乐器缶"的形制,"乐器缶"的演奏方式和置放样式,以及"乐器缶"在中国古代乐器史上的地位等.本文认为:"缶"作为陶瓦器的类称,有三层含义:或是类名,或是生活器具名,或是乐器名;我国古代"乐器缶"的形制主要为"敛底而宽上"的盆形,上古有单件的"古缶",中古以后又见多件的"编缶";"古缶"有"口向上"和"口朝下"两种置放方式;其演奏方式主要为手击和杖击,及多样化的演奏技艺;同时发现中国音乐史上"乐器缶"一直没有被宫廷主流音乐所接纳,没有纯粹的乐器名分;然其双重的社会功能和深入介入社会的意义却是其他任何一种专业类型的乐器...

The fou was a kind of life utensil as well as music instrument. The paper discussed fou both as a clay utensil and as instrument with its figure, performance way, its putting way, and its status in the history of Chinese ancient instrument. The writers held that there are three meanings for the title of fou, name of category, name of life utensil, and name of instrumeni.
