当今世界大国引领着世界的发展进程,也引领着世界竞技体育的发展进程。依靠竞技体育的崛起,实现大国崛起的愿望,是大国崛起时国民和政治家的普遍心理。国民社会心态和政治诉求影响大国竞技体育崛起。大国在竞技体育崛起过程中其国民社会心态和政治诉求的特点是:国民社会心态和政治诉求表现最迫切时,是在经济和社会快速上升时期;在奥运会金牌榜上力争"前三"和通过成功举办奥运会彰显实力是大国国民社会心态和政治诉求的共同点;大国对竞技体育崛起在国民心态和政治诉求上的表现程度不同。
