武当山的主神真武神因属全能神,故明清时期进香武当者所祈求的愿望包括富贵功名、子孙满堂、福寿双全、财源茂盛、降妖除魔、消灾去病等关系民众生活的方方面面,不过,由于真武的神性和武当道教的伦理观及明代武当山的历史地位,为国家祈福、求子求寿等构成了武当山进香的特色。

Since Emperor Zhenwu, the Chief God of Wudang Mountains was all-powerful, so the appeals and desires of pilgrims to Wudang Mountains in the Ming and Qing Dynasties included all things concerning the common people, such as, wealth and official rank, son and daughter, happiness and longevity, eliminating perils and illness and so on.
