运河空间对于冯梦龙的短篇通俗小说“三言”里明代故事的构建起着重要的作用，空间叙事学是探究明代运河空间的又一新的视角。“三言”中明代运河空间得到了多维度的建构，明代运河既是地理空间，又是文学空间与文化空间。“三言”中的明代运河空间具有多层次的隐喻作用，运河既是阻隔与离情空间，又是天灾人祸发生的空间，同样也是带来转机与团圆的空间。
