This study aimed to hierarchically investigate the influence of distal between-individual predictors and proximal within-individual predictors on emotional engagement in a blended learning setting. As emotional experience is a crucial factor influencing students' learning and performance, it is important to understand what influences their emotional engagement in blended learning. In this study, pretest, posttest, and experience sampling methods were used to capture longitudinal data from 61 preservice teachers from two classes at a university in central China.
