随着政府《民办教育促进法》的出台,以及社会对高等教育市场的需求,我国民办高等教育迎来了发展的良机。而教育评估是保障民办高等教育质量的重要途径。美国中北部院校协会高教认证委员会作为一个非政府组织,对美国高等教育机构的质量评估发挥了重要作用。其高教认证委员会成员构成多元化,有明确的认证标准,认证活动促进了教育质量的提升,也为联邦政府提供了一个资助依据。其中,克拉克大学通过认证,提升了其办学水平。
