Reducing energy consumption and prolonging the network lifetime were important targets of Wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Based on LEACH, this paper proposed a Cluster-centre and Energy-based Balanced Distributed Clustering algorithm (CEBDC) for WSNs. CEBDC balanced the clusters to reduce energy consumption. Moreover, the cluster-heads were selected by two factors which were a) the distance from node to cluster-centre, and b) the residual energy.
