Structuralism and cognitivism are two methods mainly used by scholars in analyzing the lexical polysemy,and both are based on a single language corpus and have some drawbacks.In this paper,the Semantic Mirror Method is introduced to investigate the polysemy of"qishi"based on an English-Chinese parallel corpus.One the basis of the hypothesis listed in Semantic Mirror Method and using the t-images and inverse t-images of"qishi",this paper draws a conclusion that"qishi"has four semantic meanings of"interpreting,modifying,confirming and reminding",which is verified by the inspection of its inverse...
