三峡库区内不宜大力发展工业,但三峡库区边沿的枝城则有发展工业得天独厚的区位优势,将枝城建成对三峡库区有重大辐射带动作用的大型工业城市,对三峡库区、长江上中游及整个长江流域的经济发展乃至西部大开发都具有重要的意义,探讨了把枝城开发建设成大型工业城市的初步方案.

It is not suitable to developing industry in Three Gorges, while the geography surroundings in Zhicheng which lies in the edge of Three Gorges is good. If the region from Zhicheng to Yichang can be developed as a large industrial city, it will make important effects to Three Gorges, the upper and middle reaches of Changjiang River, the whole valley of Changjiang River and the development of the west.
