江汉平原共有中、低产田76.4万hm~2,占区域人为土面积的40.6%、湖北省人为土面积的20.2%,是湖北省农业发展的重要后备资源.随机选取江汉平原三湖农场11个土壤剖面,野外进行了硬度、地下水位测量及土壤分层采样,并对各层土样进行了含水量、容重和孔隙度等物理特性的室内分析.结果显示, 4个剖面土壤利用方式完全与土壤剖面的物理属性相悖,其它7个剖面中有3个需要在某一方面进行改良方适于旱作;部分剖面存在着地下水位低、排水不良等问题.改变耕作方式、加强土壤排水能力和增施有机肥是提高土壤生产能力的首要举措.
