The article tries to investigate, from the perspective of cognitive linguistics and dlachromc linguistics, how iconicity affects the semantic changing of a word. The analysis on the two models of semantic changing in a polysemic word reveals that there exist motivations, direct or indirect, between a word＇s source meaning and its derivative meanings.
