In this paper the optimized Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed to solve the automatic generation control (AGC) problem of cascade hydroelectric power systems. The proposed genetic algorithm uses the real number encoding to represent a solution to the problem. Elitism operator is executed to prevent the best individuals from varying. Adjusting low-grade Individuals scheme is used to improve population fitness.
