Sulfones are not only important structural motifs in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals but also versatile synthetic intermediates in organic chemistry. Despite the significant progress in the synthesis of sulfones in recent years, C(sp3)-sulfonyl bond formations remain underdeveloped. In particular, there have been no reports to date of general methods for the sulfonylation of alkyl radicals.
