Cloud point extraction was applied as a preconcentration step prior to the determination of cadmium and lead in human teeth samples by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). After complexation with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone (PMBP), the analytes were quantitatively extracted to and concentrated in the phase rich in the surfactant Triton X-114, then measured by ICP-OES.
