摘要:
This paper discusses a multi-server retrial queuing system, where the customers may leave the system due to balking and impatience. Deviated from the classical retrial queue, we use a novel model that reflects the queue state, the ambition of queuing and the urgency of requests. In particular, when customers find that a certain amount of requests were in the service area, they will enter in orbit or service area. We study the interrelation of the parameters in the model, and effect of balking, retrial, and buffer size on performance measurements in the steady-state conditions. We also study the performance of the model of the queuing transaction in the computer networks under the specific parameter settings. Simulation results are presented by using OPNET Modeler tool.

摘要:
For a graph G, the Merrifield-Simmons index i(G) and the Hosoya index z(G) are defined as the total number of independent sets and the total number of matchings of the graph G, respectively. In this paper, we characterize the graphs with the maximal Merrifield-Simmons index and the minimal Hosoya index, respectively, among the bicyclic graphs on n vertices with a given girth g.

摘要:
For HTTP over FAST TCP scenario, this letter presents a simple closed-form formula to estimate the latency, taking into account the network parameters such as packet size, link capacity, propagation delay and FAST TCP parameter settings. Analyzes supported by simulation results reveal the effects of network parameters and FAST TCP parameters on the FAST TCP/HTTP latency.

FAST TCP is a promising new transfer control protocol developed for high-speed long-latency networks, whose performance has previously only been studied for data traffic sent in one direction. In this study, the authors propose a mathematical model for bi-directional connections using the FAST TCP protocol, which captures the asymmetric bandwidth dynamics in duplex dumbbell networks, prevalent in ADSL, satellite and other high-speed technologies. Using this model, the authors obtain a powerful result that the queue delays observed by opposite FAST TCP flows only have a time difference in a dumbbell network. Furthermore, the authors establish the conditions under which the bi-directional FAST TCP flows achieve stability, and on this basis the throughput rates of the forward and backward flows at steady-state are deduced. The authors find that, in the case of bandwidth asymmetry and one flow in each direction, in equilibrium the throughput of the bi-directional FAST TCP flows can only achieve the smaller link capacity of the duplex links, and the link with larger capacity is not fully occupied. These theoretical findings are corroborated by NS2 simulations.

For a graph G, the Hosoya index and the Merrifield-Simmons index are defined as the total number of its matchings and the total number of its independent sets, respectively. In this paper, we obtain the smallest and the largest Hosoya index and Merrifield-Simmons index of theta-graphs, which are obtained by subdividing the edges of the multigraph consisting of 3 parallel edges, denoted by theta(r, s, t). At the same time, we characterize the corresponding extremal graphs. Our results show that the graphs of the smallest Merrifield-Simmons index do not coincide with those of the largest Hosoya index among theta-graphs. Surprisedly, they attain their lower bound for at the same graph theta(0, 1, n - 3).

摘要:
The fairness in TCP Reno has been long known as unsatisfactory as it gives more bandwidth shares to short flows while starves the long flows. In this paper, a new proposal to improve fairness in TCP Reno is presented. We describe the bandwidth allocation among TCP Reno flows into a new utility optimised problem, in which the requirement of fairness among flows is taken into account in the constrain conditions. This problem is then solved by the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) condition to achieve a new distributed algorithm to allocate bandwidth among flows with fairness being enhanced. On this basis, we discuss the implementation of this algorithm in the packet level for real networks using the technique of differential dropping in routers. Simulation results show that the new proposal regulates the bandwidth share effectively and improves the fairness performance of TCP Reno.

This paper addresses the challenge of load balance and network lifetime extension in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). We propose a novel distributed clustering approach for WSNs, which is termed as Hybrid Cluster-based Energy-efficient Protocol (HCEP) by using clustering as a key communication control technique. To measure the load distribution among nodes in a WSN, we quantify load balance by giving a load parameter for every node in a WSN. We then introduce a novel clustering function that takes into account a number of factors such as node degree, node residual energy and node initial energy. Based on the clustering function, we develop the framework of HCEP for implementation in WSNs. We design HCEP to incorporate two sorts of procedures in it, mainly the clustering procedures. Using the procedure, HCEP takes the advantage of load balance and uses localised coordination to enable energy efficiency and robustness for dynamic WSN networks, and thus it can prolong the network lifetime significantly. Simulation results verify that HCEP extends lifetime when communication radius changes within certain range and that the introduced balance parameter can be set to extend lifetime significantly.
