Proactive self-configuration is indispensable for wireless sensor networks, as devices of the networks are usually exposed to natural or man-made disasters due to ad hoc nature of the networks. The network state beacon exchange rate is vital to determine the quality of service (QoS) performance of network state in wireless sensor networks. The rate of beacon exchange and its contents delineates the time and nature of the proactive action.
