摘要:
It is argued that, accounting for the anisotropy of phase space, the local fluctuations of multiplicity in high energy multiparticle production are self-affine rather than self-similar. Evidence is given confirming self-affinity in phase-space distributions. A method is proposed to extract the characteristic parameter of self-affinity, the Hurst exponent, from the experimental data iteratively.

The site preference of ternary additions Mg, V, Cr, Mn, Ga, and Mo in γ-TiAl intermetallic compounds is studied using the discrete-variational local-density-functional method with cluster models. The relations of the site preference of ternary additions with the compositions of the host elements and with the concentrations of the additions themselves in the host are obtained. The results explain satisfactorily the experimental observations and are discussed with the effects of ternary additions in improving the ductility of γ-TiAl.

By calculating the effective potential of the nontopological soliton model at finite temperature and density, the temperature and the chemical potential dependence of the bag constant is obtained. The feature of deconfinement phase transition is analyzed. It turns out that, in this model, the deconfinement phase transition is of first order; the analysis of the phase transition feature suggests the coexistence of a deconfinement phase and a confinement phase.

The dependences of intermittency degree on moment-order, multiplicity and transverse momentum are discussed. The different dependences of intermittency degree on moment order at different energies are utilized to show that the dependences of intermittency degree on multiplicity are in opposite directions in low and high energy regimes. It is argued that these different trends imply that intermittency degree depends on other more basic quantity, such as transverse momentum.

摘要:
We obtain the equation for the steady state joint probability distribution of the system driven by external and internal noises simultaneously, where external noise is the dichotomous noise and internal noise is the Gaussian white noise. As to the application of our equation, we discuss two examples for which the correlation functions and associated relaxation times are calculated. We find the coupling effect of the external and the internal noises for the relaxation time.

The influence of the atomic coherence on the collapses and revivals of the atomic inversion is some generalized Jaynes-Cummings models is examined. It is shown that the collapse and revival times are independent of the initial state of the atom, while the amplitude of the revivals is sensitive to this coherence and the phase of the field. Under certain conditions, the amplitude of the revivals can be decreased and the revivals can become the doublet structure.

In this paper, we have investigated the time evolution of the phase operator of the radiation field in the Jaynes-Cummings model with and without the rotating-wave approximation, making use of the phase formalism of Barnett and Pegg [J. Mod. Opt. 36, 7 (1989); Phys. Rev. A 39, 1665 (1989)]. We verify by an analytical method that the atomic Rabi oscillation leads to phase dissipation of the radiation field, and also that the effect of the virtual-photon field can exhibit quantum fluctuations in the atom-field-coupling system and lead to a frequency shift of the radiation field.

We have studied the time evolution of the phase operators of the radiation field in the system containing a ssV-type three-level atom interacting with the bimodal field by means of the phase formalism given by Pegg and Barnett [J. Mod. Opt. 36, 7 (1989); Phys. Rev. A 39, 1665 (1989)]. That the atomic coherent trapping will happen in an appropriate initial state of the system has also been verified.

Quantum fluctuations of atomic dipole variables in the two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model are discussed. It is shown that dipole squeezing can be exhibited in certain periods of time evolution of the system for superposition state preparations, and also that the dipole fluctuations cannot be squeezed in atomic spontaneous radiation processes.

The influence of non-zero collision time on the energy density in relativistic heavy ion collisions is analysed. Using a hydrodynamical model, the maximal energy densities are given for two different types of process: full stopping and transparency, and the effective way for increasing the energy density is discussed also.

A manual procedure to determine the body-centered cubic structure of tungsten directly by its FIM micrographs and by field evaporation is reported here. It was performed to obtain a general method for determining the three-dimensional microstructure of FIM specimens, and as a first step of characterizing the method as well. It mainly consists of the following steps: The selection of the region of exploration; the localization of imaged atoms; the determination of the diameter of the tungsten atom model; simulation of the field ion micrographs; acquisition of the three-dimensional microstructure of the examined area.

The chiral-symmetry-restoring transition in a model proposed by Lurie is investigated at finite temperature and density. A method is given to establish the self-consistency equation satisfied by the order parameter and a convenient scheme is constructed for calculating the equation of state approximately. Study of the phase diagram shows the existence of a critical point separating the first-order from the second-order chiral phase transition. By calculating the energy density versus temperature, the order of the chiral phase transition is confirmed. A careful analysis of isotherms of pressure versus net baryon-number density suggests the existence of overheated and overcooled metastable states and the coexistence of a broken phase and a normal phase.

The physical mechanism of multihadron production in high-energy nondiffractive collisions is discussed based on the quantum coherent state. A remarkable agreement is obtained between the theoretical results and experimental data in respect of the high-order normalized moments at c.m. energies from 11.5 to 900 GeV for the full phase space. Predictions are made for Fermilab Tevatron, CERN Large Hadron Collider, and Superconducting Super Collider energies by using an empirical formula for 〈nND〉 and our relation involving the parameter λ.

摘要:
The conditional entropy and mutual information of two neighboring generations of division are proposed as characteristics to use in analyzing the random cascading mechanism in multiparticle production. It is shown that these characteristics are effective in examining the existence and property of self-similar cascading, provided the multiplicities of the events in consideration are high enough.

We report on an attempt to determine the microstructure of a FIM specimen directly by its field ion micrograph combined with field evaporation. In this paper the general idea and presumptive procedures of the method are described. In a following paper the determination of the body-centered cubic structure of tungsten obtained by a manual method is reported. The same work performed by a digital video image acquiring/analyzing station is reported in the third part, which is the first stage in realizing our objective.

By using FIM, high-transition-temperature superconducting Bi<inf>2</inf>(Sr, Ca)<inf>3</inf>Cu<inf>2</inf>O<inf>y</inf> has been examined with H<inf>2</inf> and Ar imaging gases. Two kinds of FIM images, lines and spots, have been observed and analyzed. Both patterns convincingly show the lamellate structure of the specimens. The periodicity of the FIM image patterns is consistent with the proposed models, and some new patterns are observed and discussed.
