摘要:
Heavy flavor physics in high-energy heavy-ion collisions is a promising and active area to study the mass dependence of the "jet quenching " effects both at the RHIC and the LHC. In this talk, we present the first theoretical study on the D-0 meson radial distributions relative to the jet axis both in p+p and Pb+Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 5.02 TeV, where a nice agreement of our results with experimental data is observed. The in-medium parton propagations are described by a Monte Carlo transport model which uses the next-to-leading order (NLO) plus parton shower (PS) event generator SHERPA as input and includes elastic (collisional) and inelastic (radiative) in-medium interaction of heavy flavor jet. We find that, at low D-0 meson p(T), the radial distribution significantly shifts to larger radius indicating a strong diffusion effect, and the diffusion effects decrease quickly with p(T) ,which is consistent with the recent CMS measurements. We demonstrate that the angular deviation of charm quarks is sensitive to D-s but not (q) over cap, which may provide new constrains on the collisional and radiative heavy quark energy loss.

摘要:
We present the first global extraction of the jet transport coefficient ((q) over cap) for cold nuclear matter within the framework of higher-twist expansion. The analysis takes into account the world data on transverse momentum broadening in semi-inclusive e-A deep inelastic scattering (DIS) and in Drell-Yan dilepton and heavy quarkonium production in p-A collisions, as well as the nuclear modification of the structure functions in DIS. The results of this work provide the first quantitative evidence for the universality and non-trivial scale dependence of the medium transport property, similar to that for nucleon structure as encoded in the standard parton distribution functions. We expect the extracted scale dependence of q for cold nuclear matter can be extended to precisely identify the fundamental property of quark gluon plasma.

The averaged jet charge characterizes the electric charge of the initiating parton and provides a powerful tool to distinguish quark jets from gluon jets.We predict,for the first time,the medium modification of the averaged jet charge in the heavy-ion collisions at the LHC,where jet productions in p+p collisions are simulated by PYTHIA6,and the parton energy loss in QGP is calculated with two Monte Carlo models of jet quenching:PYQUEN and JEWEL.We found that the distribution of averaged jet charge is significantly suppressed by initial state isospin effects due to the participation of neutrons with zero electric charge during nuclear collisions.The considerable enhancement of the averaged jet charge in central Pb+Pb collisions is observed relative to peripheral collisions,since the jet quenching effect is more pronounced in central collisions.The distinct feature of the averaged jet charge between quark and gluon jets,along with the sensitivity of medium modifications on the jet charge to flavor dependence of the parton energy loss,could be very useful to discriminate the energy loss pattern between quark and gluon jets in heavy-ion collisions.

摘要:
In the Color Glass Condensate formalism, we evaluate the 3-dipole correlator up to the 1Nc4 order with Nc being the number of colors, and compute the azimuthal cumulant c123 for 3-particle productions. In addition, we discuss the patterns appearing in the n-dipole formula in terms of 1Nc expansions. This allows us to conjecture the Nc scaling of cn{m}, which is crosschecked by our calculation of c2{4} in the dilute limit.

In this work, we pave the way to calculate the productions of
$$\omega $$
and
$$K^0_{\mathrm{S}}$$
mesons with large
$$p_T$$
in p+p and A+A collisions both at RHIC and LHC. The fragmentation functions (FFs) of the
$$\omega $$
meson in vacuum at next-to-leading order (NLO) are obtained by evolving the NLO DGLAP evolution equations with rescaled
$$\omega $$
FFs at initial scale
$$Q_0^2=1.5$$
$$\hbox {GeV}^2$$
from a broken SU(3) model, and the FFs of
$$K^0_{\mathrm{S}}$$
in vacuum are taken from AKK08 parametrization directly. Within the framework of the NLO pQCD improved parton model, we arrive at good descriptions of the experimental data on
$$\omega $$
and
$$K^0_{\mathrm{S}}$$
in p+p both at RHIC and LHC. With the higher-twist approach, to take into account jet quenching effect by medium-modified FFs, nuclear modification factors for
$$\omega $$
meson and
$$K^0_{\mathrm{S}}$$
meson both at RHIC and LHC are presented with different sets of jet transport coefficients
$${\hat{q}}_0$$
. Then we make a global extraction of
$${\hat{q}}_0$$
both at RHIC and LHC by confronting our model calculations with all available data on six identified mesons:
$$\pi ^0$$
,
$$\eta $$
,
$$\rho ^0$$
,
$$\phi $$
,
$$\omega $$
, and
$$K^0_{\mathrm{S}}$$
. The minimum value of total
$$\chi ^2/d.o.f$$
for productions of these mesons gives the best value of
$${\hat{q}}_0=0.5\mathrm ~GeV^2/fm$$
for Au+Au collisions with
$$\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=200$$
GeV at RHIC, and
$${\hat{q}}_0=1.2\mathrm ~GeV^2/fm$$
for Pb+Pb collisions with
$$\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=2.76$$
TeV at LHC, respectively, with the QGP spacetime evolution given by the event-by-event viscous hydrodynamics model IEBE-VISHNU. With these global extracted values of
$${\hat{q}}_0$$
, nuclear modification factors of
$$\pi ^0$$
,
$$\eta $$
,
$$\rho ^0$$
,
$$\phi $$
,
$$\omega $$
, and
$$K^0_{\mathrm{S}}$$
in A+A collisions are presented, and predictions of yield ratios such as
$$\omega /\pi ^0$$
and
$$K^0_{\mathrm{S}}/\pi ^0$$
at the high-
$$p_T$$
regime in heavy-ion collisions both at RHIC and LHC are provided.

The radial distribution of $$D^0$$ mesons in jets probes the diffusion of charm quark relative to the jet axis and provides a new perspective to study the interaction mechanisms between heavy quarks and the medium in the nucleus-nucleus collisions. The in-medium parton propagations are described by a Monte Carlo transport model which uses the next-to-leading order (NLO) plus parton shower (PS) event generator SHERPA as input and includes elastic (collisional) and inelastic (radiative) interaction for heavy quarks as well as light partons. At low $$D^0$$ meson $$p_T$$, the radial distribution significantly shifts to larger radius indicating a strong diffusion effect which is consistent with the recent experimental data. We demonstrate that the angular deviation of charm quarks declines with $$p_T$$ and is very sensitive to the collisional more than radiative interaction at $$p_T<5$$GeV. As predictions, we present the $$D^0$$ meson radial distribution in jets in p + p and $$0{-}10\%$$ Au + Au collisions at $$\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$$GeV at the RHIC, and also estimate the nuclear modification factor of charm jet in central Au + Au collisions at 200GeV at the RHIC and central Pb + Pb collisions at 5.02TeV at the LHC.

Production of large transverse momentum ρ0 meson in high-energy nuclear collisions is investigated for the first time at next to leading order (NLO) in the QCD improved parton model. The ρ0 fragmentation functions (FFs) in vacuum at any scale Q are obtained, by evolving a newly developed initial parametrization of ρ0 FFs at a scale Q02=1.5GeV2 from a broken SU(3) model through NLO Dokshitzer–Gribov–Lipatov–Altarelli–Parisi (DGLAP) equations. The numerical simulations of pT spectra of ρ0 meson in the elementary p+p collisions at NLO give a decent description of STAR p+p data. In A+A reactions the jet quenching effect is taken into account with the higher-twist approach by the medium-modified parton FFs due to gluon radiation in the quark-gluon plasma, whose space-time evolution is described by a (3+1D) hydrodynamical model. The nuclear modification factors for ρ0 meson and its double ratio with π± nuclear modification in central Au+Au collisions at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider are calculated and found to be in good agreement with the STAR measurement. Predictions of ρ0 nuclear modification and the yield ratio ρ0/π0 in central Pb+Pb at the CERN Large Hadron Collider are also presented. It is shown that the ratio ρ0/π0 in central Pb+Pb will approach to that in p+p reactions when pT>12 GeV.

摘要:
The complete set of elastic processes and a higher-twist approach has been implemented in a Linear Boltzmann Transport model for the study of jet-medium interaction. Since the recoiled partons are also taken into account along with the jet shower partons and radiated gluons in this model, we can simulate not only the jet propagation inside the medium but also the medium excitation induced by the jet. In this work, we have discussed various jet observables in gamma-jet events and compare our results with the experimental data. Our results show that the multiple jets are important to include in the calculation of gamma-jet angular distribution. The radius R is extended in our jet shape study to look at the transverse momentum distribution outside the jet cone, where we find that the soft partons from the jet-induced medium excitation dominate.

We evaluate the octupole in the large- Nc limit in the McLerran-Venugopalan model and derive a general expression of the 2n-point correlator, which can be applied in analytical studies of the multiparticle production in the scatterings between hard probes and dense targets.

The transport of jet shower partons and jet-induced medium excitations are investigated simultaneously within CoLBT-Hydro model the coupled Linear Boltzmann Transport and hydro model. In this coupled approach, the LBT model is coupled to 3+1D hydrodynamic model in real time with fluctuating initial conditions. The elastic collisions and radiation processes of energetic partons are simulated by LBT model with the background of the evolving bulk medium described by 3+1D hydrodynamic model. Energy and momentum of soft partons from LBT model are deposited into the medium via a source term in the 3+1D hydrodynamics. The hydro background for the LBT simulation is then updated for each time step. Using this CoLBT-hydro model, we simulate the transport of gamma-jets and medium excitations in heavy-ion collisions. Hadron spectra from both the hadronization of jet shower partons and the medium excitations are calculated and compared to experimental data. Parton energy loss of jet shower partons leads to the suppression of associated hadrons at large z(T)=p(T-,h)/p(T,gamma) while medium excitations lead to the enhancement of hadrons at small z(T). We further calculate gamma-hadron angular correlation which shows significant broadening for low p(T) < 2GeV hadrons.

Jet charge characterizes the electric charge distribution inside a jet. In this talk we make the first theoretical study of jet charge in high-energy nuclear collisions and calculate numerically the medium alternations of jet charge due to parton energy loss in the quark-gluon plasma. The parton multiple scattering in hot/dense QCD medium is simulated by a modified version of PYQUEN Monte Carlo model with 3+1D ideal hydrodynamical evolution of the fireball. Our preliminary results show that the averaged jet charge is significant modified in A+A collisions relative to that in p+p. The different features of quark jet charge and gluon jet charge in heavy-ion collisions, and the sensitivity of jet charge modifications to flavour dependence of energy loss are observed, which could then be used to discriminate quark and gluon jet as well as their energy loss patterns in heavy-ion collisions.

The large p(T)-hadron suppression in high-energy heavy-ion collisions at RHIC/LHC is studied in a NLO pQCD parton model in which the fragmentation function is modified due to jet quenching. The energy loss of the energetic parton jets is incorporated in the modified fragmentation functions which utilize two important parameters to characterize the jet transport properties, the jet transport parameter 40 and the mean free path lambda(0), both at the initial time To in the center of the fireball created in central AA collisions. We performed a phenomenological study of simultaneous chi(2)/d.o.f fits to RHIC as well as LHC data to constrain the two parameters for energetic quarks, (q) over cap 1.1 +/- 0.2 GeV2/fm and lambda(0) 0.4 +/- 0.03 fm in central Au + Au collisions at root S-NN = 200 GeV, while (q) over cap = 1.7 +/- 0.3 GeV2/fm, and lambda(0) approximate to 0.5 +/- 0.05 flu in central Pb + Pb collisions at root S-NN = 2.76 TeV. Numerical results for the best fit give a multiple scattering picture for the hard jets with a moderate averaged number of gluon emissions. Based on the best constraints for lambda(0) and To, the estimated value for the mean-squared transverse momentum broadening is moderate which implies that the hard jets go through the medium with small reflection.

Within the framework of higher-twist collinear factorization, transverse momentum broadening for the final hadrons in semi-inclusive deeply inelastic e+A collisions is studied at the next-to-leading order (NLO) in perturbative QCD. Through explicit calculations of real and virtual corrections at twist 4, the transverse-momentum-weighted differential cross section due to double scattering is shown to factorize at NLO and can be expressed as a convolution of twist-4 nuclear parton correlation functions, the usual twist-2 fragmentation functions and hard parts which are finite and free of any divergences. A QCD evolution equation is also derived for the renormalized twist-4 quark-gluon correlation function which can be applied to future phenomenological studies of transverse momentum broadening and jet quenching at NLO.
