摘要：
Background: Depression impacts the lives of a large number of university students. Mobile-based therapy chatbots are increasingly being used to help young adults who suffer from depression. However, previous trials have short follow-up periods. Evidence of effectiveness in pragmatic conditions are still in lack. Objective: This study aimed to compare chatbot therapy to bibliotherapy, which is a widely accepted and proven-useful self-help psychological intervention. The main objective of this study is to add to the evidence of effectiveness for chatbot therapy as a convenient, affordable, interactive self-help intervention for depression. Methods: An unblinded randomized controlled trial with 83 university students was conducted. The participants were randomly assigned to either a chatbot test group (n = 41) to receive a newly developed chatbot-delivered intervention, or a bibliotherapy control group (n = 42) to receive a minimal level of bibliotherapy. A set of questionnaires was implemented as measurements of clinical variables at baseline and every 4 weeks for a period of 16 weeks, which included the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), the Generalized Anxiety Disorder scale (GAD-7), the Positive and Negative Affect Scale (PANAS). The Client Satisfaction Questionnaire-8 (CSQ-8) and the Working Alliance Inventory-Short Revised (WAI-SR) were used to measure satisfaction and therapeutic alliance after the intervention. Participants' self-reported adherence and feedback on the therapy chatbot were also collected. Results: Participants were all university students (undergraduate students (n = 31), postgraduate students (n = 52)). They were between 19 and 28 years old (mean = 23.08, standard deviation (SD) = 1.76) and 55.42% (46/83) female. 24.07% (20/83) participants were lost to follow-up. No significant group difference was found at baseline. In the intention-to-treat analysis, individuals in the chatbot test group showed a significant reduction in the PHQ-9 scores (F = 22.89; P < 0.01) and the GAD-7 scores (F = 5.37; P = 0.02). Follow-up analysis of completers suggested that the reduction of anxiety was significant only in the first 4 weeks. The WAI-SR scores in the chatbot group were higher compared to the bibliotherapy group (t = 7.29; P < 0.01). User feedback showed that process factors were more influential than the content factors. Conclusions: The chatbot-delivered self-help depression intervention was proven to be superior to the minimal level of bibliotherapy in terms of reduction on depression, anxiety, and therapeutic alliance achieved with participants.

摘要：
Although previous studies have shown that task performance is affected by others' presence and (the consequences of) others' actions, it is unclear how task performance varies in different social situations and the role that sex plays in it. In the present study, we investigated sex differences in the evaluation processing of another person's outcomes in both cooperative and competitive contexts. We recorded the event-related potentials (ERPs) of 72 normal adults who played a gambling task with a partner or against an opponent. The behavioral results indicate that males take longer to make decisions in competitive contexts, while females take longer to make decisions in cooperative contexts. According to the ERP findings, feedback-related negativity (FRN) was influenced by sex, with larger FRN following another person's loss among males in both cooperative and competitive contexts. The P300 was influenced by sex and context, such that males had greater P300 when another person made a gain under the cooperative context, while females had greater P300 when another person lost under the cooperative context. Our findings suggest that the processing of another person's outcome can be modulated by the sex during the early stage and by both the context and sex during the late stage.

Cognitive reappraisal highlights the essential role of creative thinking in regulating emotional responses in everyday life. However, previous research has shown that cognitive reappraisal is not always successful, as a novel reappraisal strategy may not be effective in suppressing negative emotions, and it is less known what brain regions are responsible for novelty and appropriateness processing during cognitive reappraisal. In the current study, we investigated the neural correlates of novelty and appropriateness processing of cognitive reappraisals while experiencing negative emotions. 25 participants were exposed to negative pictures accompanied by one of four reappraisal sentences that systematically varied on novelty and appropriateness, and they were asked to indicate their emotional valence after understanding the sentences. The functional imaging results revealed the involvement of the default mode network (DMN) regions and a stronger mPFC-IPL pathway connectivity responsible for the novelty processing; the involvement of the executive control network (ECN), salience network (SN), and stronger connectivity of both frontotemporal pathway and AI-thalamus-IFG pathway responsible for the appropriateness processing. These findings indicate that the three-network system (DMN, ECN and SN), which is commonly involved in creative cognition, also underlies the neural basis in cognitive reappraisal. The current findings extend our understanding of the neural correlates of creative thinking in emotional contexts and provide insights into developing effective reappraisal strategies for emotional regulation.

Impulsivity is both a core symptom and a key psychological mechanism in Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), and therefore interventions for impulsivity in IGD have both theoretical and practical value. However, previous related interventions only tended to focus on a single factor of impulsivity and achieved inconsistent results. In this study, based on the theory of two-factor model of impulsivity (reward sensitivity and rash impulsiveness), four groups of IGD subjects were recruited to investigate whether there were different effects of single rash impulsiveness or reward sensitivity intervention versus a combined intervention. By comparing the different factors of impulsivity of the four groups before and after a 15-day intervention, the results showed that: (1) compared with the control group, subjects in the Go/No-go training group only had a significantly lower level of rash impulsiveness, subjects in the Stimulus-Response Compatibility (SRC) training group only had a significantly lower level of reward sensitivity, and subjects in the combined training group had significantly lower levels of both impulsivity; (2) among the three intervention groups, only the subjects in the combined training group had significantly lower IGD scores in the follow-up measure. This study indicated that the behavioral training of Go/No-go and SRC were effective in improving rash impulsiveness and reward sensitivity in IGD, respectively, but the intervention effect of the combined training was better than that of the single training.

Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) can be defined as the deliberate destruction of body tissues to generate harm. College students have a higher incidence of NSSI. With the deepening of research on college students' NSSI, the connection between their self-consistency congruence and NSSI has drawn the attention of many scholars. The current study examined the association between self-concordance and NSSI, the mediating function of negative emotions, and the moderating role of gender. We surveyed 1020 college students from three universities in Jiangxi Province using a self-concordant scale, a NSSI questionnaire, and a negative emotion questionnaire. The results showed that self-concordance was negatively correlated with NSSI. There is an obvious negative connection between self-consistency congruence and negative emotions. There was a significant positive correlation between negative emotions and the NSSI scores. Negative emotions could mediate the association between self-consistency congruence and NSSI. Compared to males, females' self-concordant effects on negative emotions are easier to moderate.

Cyclin-dependent kinase (Cdk) proteins play crucial roles in the cell cycle progression and are thus attractive drug targets for therapy against such aberrant cell cycle processes as cancer. Since most of the available Cdk inhibitors target the highly conserved catalytic ATP pocket and their lack of specificity often lead to side effects, it is imperative to identify and characterize less conserved non-catalytic pockets capable of interfering with the kinase activity allosterically. However, a systematic analysis of these allosteric druggable pockets is still in its infancy. Here, we summarize the existing Cdk pockets and their selectivity. Then, we outline a network-based pocket prediction approach (NetPocket) and illustrate its utility for systematically identifying the allosteric druggable pockets with case studies. Finally, we discuss potential future directions and their challenges.

Food-related inhibition plays a critical role in the manifestation of overweight. Previous research has focused exclusively on stimulus-driven (reactive) inhibition, which is different from intentional inhibition that refers to an internally generated decision to "stop". This study investigated the food-related neurophysiological correlates of intentional and reactive inhibitions in overweight and normal-weight adults. We compared 35 overweight participants (OWs) and 34 normal-weight participants (NWs) on performance and electroencephalography-based measures during a food-related go/no-go/choose task. In this task, participants made reactive responses to an instructed go/no-go target or made intentional choices whether to execute or inhibit a keypress when presented with a free-choice target. Our results mainly showed, 1) for group-difference, N2a amplitudes of OWs were less negative than that of NWs in the intentional trials; 2) for source difference, N2a amplitudes were less negative in reactive condition than in intentional condition uniquely in OWs. Moreover, comparison across intentional responses revealed that P2 amplitudes in no-go trials were lower than in go trials. Additionally, a greater body mass index correlated with lower intentional no-go-P2 and reactive go/no-go-P2 amplitudes. These findings suggest that overweight is associated with deficits in food-related intentional inhibition, which is segregated from reactive inhibition. The individual differences in premotor inhibition during free-choice situations might provide an explanation for overeating behaviors in overweight adults' daily life. Further, our results refine the ERP marker of intentional inhibition from N2 to N2a, which could be an essential neural mechanism underlying the "free won't" of food in OWs.

Previous research has discussed the effects of monetary incentives and prosociality on deceptive behavior. However, research has not comprehensively investigated the relationship between these two factors. In the current research, we introduce a repeated two-player sender-receiver binary choice task, where players in the role of senders or receivers receive asymmetric information regarding payoffs, offering the opportunity to explore the effects of economic incentives to lie according to the players' prosociality. In Experiment 1, players are paired to play the game as a sender or receiver online. We find that economic incentives determine the likelihood of deception from senders and the likelihood that receivers will deviate from the received suggestions. Moreover, prosociality is related to players' behavior: Prosocial senders send less deceptive messages and prosocial receivers choose options that benefit senders more. Furthermore, senders display consistent behavior when interacting with receivers, and they do not change their deceptive behavior even if detected by receivers. Experiment 2 further investigates how the players' behavior corresponds to their understanding and interpretation of the other players' actions, by pairing players with computer algorithms that display consistent probabilistic behaviors. We observe that senders deceive receiver algorithms by sending truthful messages when they expect the message not to be followed, and receivers follow the received messages by choosing the option that benefits "honest" sender algorithms. While we find a consistent result that prosocial senders send fewer deceptive messages than they should when telling the truth is costly, prosocial receivers are less considerate of sender payoffs in algorithms' interaction.

Background: Depression increases the risk of suicide. Depression and suicide attempts are significantly impacted by low self-esteem and interpersonal needs (i.e., thwarted belongingness (TB) and perceived burdensomeness (PB)). More research is required to clarify how these factors affected the change from depression to suicidal attempts, which would dramatically lower the suicide fatality rate. We sought to examine the mediating roles of self-esteem, TB, and PB in Chinese young adults, since previous research shows that self-esteem has a strong relationship with TB, while TB and PB have strong relationships with suicide attempts. Methods: Measures on depression, interpersonal needs, and attempted suicide were completed by a sample of 247 Chinese social media users who had stated suicidal ideation online. Results: The findings showed that people who attempted suicide had significantly higher levels of TB and PB. Suicidal attempts were also impacted by depression via the mediational chains, which included self-esteem, TB, and PB. Conclusions: Our findings might contribute to the expansion of the interpersonal theory of suicide and have an impact on effective suicide prevention.

With the increasing prevalence of mobile phone addiction, mobile phone addiction has been considered a prominent risk factor for internalizing or externalizing problems, such as psychological distress and irrational procrastination. However, few studies shed light on the effect of mobile phone addiction on mind wandering and the underlying mechanisms. This study speculated that the direct effect of mobile phone addiction on mind wandering may be linked to fatigue and that the level of an individual’s personality characteristics, such as rumination, may influence both the direct and indirect effects of mobile phone addiction on mind wandering. To test these hypotheses, we recruited 1811 college students to complete the self-report questionnaires. The results indicated that mobile phone addiction was positively associated with mind wandering. This direct effect could be mediated by fatigue, and both the direct and indirect effects of mobile phone addiction on mind wandering could be moderated by rumination. Specifically, both the direct and indirect effects were stronger for students with high rumination. These findings enrich our understanding of how, why, and for whom mobile phone addiction is correlated with mind wandering.

Objective: With the popularity of social media among adolescents, the relation between social media exposure (especially exposure to undesirable content) and adolescent tobacco and alcohol use has attracted much attention. This study examined the association between social media exposure and tobacco and alcohol use, as well as the moderating role of parental active mediation and restrictive mediation: differences between elementary and middle school students were also investigated. Method: A total of 697 elementary school students ages 9-13 and 794 middle school students ages 12-18 were recruited to complete a questionnaire survey. Results: Social media exposure was positively associated with tobacco and alcohol use among both elementary and middle school students. For elementary school students, both active mediation and restrictive mediation moderated the association between social media exposure and tobacco and alcohol use; for middle school students, neither of these moderating effects was significant. Conclusions: Findings suggest that social media exposure is a risk factor for both elementary and middle school students. Both parental active and restrictive mediation are promising targets for intervention because they can mitigate the risk of social media exposure for elementary school students. However, further research should focus on factors that effectively buffer the negative effects of social media exposure on tobacco and alcohol use among middle school students.

Humans can flexibly represent both categorical and coordinate spatial relations. Previous research has mainly focused on hemisphere lateralization in representing these two types of spatial relations, but little is known about how distinct network organization states support representations of the two. Here we used dynamic resting-state functional connectivity (FC) to explore this question. To do this, we separated a meta-identified navigation network into a ventral and two other subnetworks. We revealed a Weak State and a Strong State within the ventral subnetwork and a Negative State and a Positive State between the ventral and other subnetworks. Further, we found the Weak State (i.e., weak but positive FC) within the ventral subnetwork was related to the ability of categorical relation recognition, suggesting that the representation of categorical spatial relations was related to weak integration among focal regions in the navigation network. In contrast, the Negative State (i.e., negative FC) between the ventral and other subnetworks was associated with the ability of coordinate relation processing, suggesting that the representation of coordinate spatial relations may require competitive interactions among widely distributed regions. In sum, our study provides the first empirical evidence revealing different focal and distributed organizations of the navigation network in representing different types of spatial information.
