Host-guest recognition plays an important role in biological analysis and biosensing. Accordingly, great efforts have been devoted to the development of sensors using versatile 3D surface materials. These functionalized nanomaterials possess the advantages of high selectivity and visual signals, enabling the selective detection of ions, amino acids, proteins, and other biological molecules. Therefore, in this feature article, we present some significant and representative examples of molecular recognition on calixarene functionalized 3D surface nanomaterials. By virtue of host-guest interactions, the functional interfaces displaying high selectivity and featuring a reversible switch response towards the environmental stimuli with various signal output (electrochemical and optical signals) are herein introduced. Furthermore, various 3D surface materials with unique signal amplification in molecular recognition are presented, including quantum dots (QDs), metal nanoparticles (NPs), nanotubes, and mesoporous silica. These excellent properties enable calixarene-functionalized 3D materials to become an outstanding platform for molecular recognition, offering convenient approaches for sensing and separation.

摘要:
A monofunctionalized anthracene pillar[5]arene (MAP5) was designed and synthesized by a click reaction. MAP5 was bound to an ionic liquid through host–guest interactions to modify a gold interface. The bonding and release of MAP5 was readily and reversibly controlled by temperature regulation. The developed temperature-responsive switch at an interface can be used in memory storage, drug delivery, and sensing.

A new naphthol-appended calix[4]arene (NOC4) has been synthesized and characterized. NOC4 is clicked onto a microstructured Au surface and exhibits selective macroscopic recognition of metolcarb (MC) via contact angle measurements. The proposed wettability sensing device displays remarkable specificity and is fast and easy to use, which should be suitable for the rapid detection of MC in environmental monitoring.
摘要:
A novel coumarin-pillar[5]arene derivative (P5C10) was prepared. Fluorescence spectroscopy indicates that P5C10 shows good selectivity towards methyl-parathion. A combination of NMR spectra, MALDI-TOF spectra and computational calculations reveals the formation of a host-guest complex driven by π-π stacking interactions.

In recent years, calixarene-based fluorescent chemosensors for mercury(II) are mushroom growth because of its intrinsic sensitivity. The design of the highly selective calixarene-based chemosensors towards mercury(II) is still a challenging task. In this paper, the progress of highly selective fluorescent sensor for mercury(II) based on calixarene derivatives is reviewed according to a mono-fluorophore chemosensor and a bi-fluorophore chemosensor. Some new developments such as calixarene-modified nanoparticles are also covered.

摘要:
Ion-controlled switchable progress is very important in many biological behaviors. Here, we reported K(+)-controlled switch, this switch system exhibited excellent carbaryl (G) binding/release by fluorescent (FL), ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectrums and (1)H NMR spectroscopy. More importantly, the K(+)-controlled G binding/release switch based on C4C5 not only in the solution, but also on the surface, promising for the application for the pesticide controlled release.
