Abstract Considerable research has been dedicated to studying teachers' digital competence, yet limited insights have been gained regarding its impact on online teacher autonomy support. Based on the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, this study utilized a multiple regression analysis model to explore how teachers' digital competence affects online teacher autonomy support. Drawing on data from 652 Chinese primary school teachers, the study revealed that teachers' digital competence positively influenced online teacher autonomy support via teachers' cognitive empathy. Teachers' emotional empathy strengthened the direct effect of cognitive empathy on online teacher autonomy support, and its indirect effect on teachers' digital competence on online teacher autonomy support. The findings inform TPACK framework development and practical considerations in online teaching, deepening understanding of the impact of digital competence on online teacher autonomy support.Practitioner notesWhat is already known about this topic Previous research has recognized the importance of teachers' digital competence in supporting learners' autonomy and enhancing their online learning experiences. Existing studies have explored different dimensions of teachers' digital competence, including technological proficiency, pedagogical knowledge and content expertise. Studies have also examined the role of empathy in online teaching and learning, emphasizing its importance in fostering positive teacher–student relationships and promoting student engagement and motivation. What this paper adds This study introduces digital competence as a novel and comprehensive assessment of technology integration in teaching, bridging an existing gap in the literature. This study recognizes the importance of socio‐emotional skills in online teaching by including teachers' empathic traits within the expanded TPACK framework. Teachers' cognitive empathy acts as a mediator and emotional empathy functions as a moderator in the relationship between digital competence and online teacher autonomy support, offering new insights into the underlying mechanisms. Implications for practice and/or policy Teacher educators should find ways to support teachers' digital competence in facilitating learners' autonomy in online learning environments effectively. Teacher educators should incorporate teacher empathy development into teachers' professional development programmes for online teaching, offering tailored interventions to differentiate and enhance both cognitive and emotional empathy.

Kinematics restricts the ability of rare charm decays to explore the charged lepton-flavor-violation processes mediated by the quark-level c→uℓτ transition. To fill the gap, we propose exploring new physics (NP) through the quasielastic scattering process e−p→τ−Λc and the polarization of the τ lepton. As analyzing modes for the τ polarization, we consider the decays τ−→π−ντ , τ−→ρ−ντ , and τ−→ℓ−ν¯ℓντ , and show that the τ polarization components can be extracted from analyzing the kinematics of the τ visible decay products. In the framework of a general low-energy effective Lagrangian, we then perform a detailed analysis of the polarization components in various aspects and scrutinize possible NP signals. With one upcoming experimental setup, we finally demonstrate promising event rate can be expected for the cascade process and, even in the worst-case scenario—no signals are observed at all—it can still provide a competitive potential for constraining the NP, compared with those from the high- pT dilepton invariant mass tails at high-energy colliders.

In this Letter, the first measurement of the inelastic cross section for antitriton-nucleus interactions is reported, covering the momentum range of 0.8 <= < 2.4 GeV/c. The measurement is carried out using data recorded with the ALICE detector in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon of 13 TeV and 5.02 TeV, respectively. The detector material serves as an absorber for antitriton nuclei. The raw yield of (anti)triton nuclei measured with the ALICE apparatus is compared to the results from detailed ALICE simulations based on the GEANT4 toolkit for the propagation of (anti)particles through matter, allowing one to quantify the inelastic interaction probability in the detector material. This analysis complements the measurement of the inelastic cross section of antinuclei up to = 3 carried out by the ALICE Collaboration, and demonstrates the feasibility of the study of the isospin dependence of inelastic interaction cross section with the analysis techniques presented in this Letter.

Proteins are vital components in cells, biological tissues, and organs, playing a pivotal role in growth and developmental processes in living organisms. Cytochrome C (Cyt C) is a class of heme proteins found in almost all life and is involved in cellular energy metabolic processes such as respiration, mainly as electron carriers or terminal reductases. It binds cardiolipin in the inner mitochondrial membrane, leading to apoptosis. It is a challenge to design a simple and effective artificial system to mimic the complex Cyt C biological transport process. In this paper, an asymmetric biomimetic pH-driven protein gate is described by introducing arginine (Arg) at one end of an hourglass-shaped nanochannel. The nanochannel shows a sensitive protonation-driven protein gate that can be "off" at pH = 7 and "on" at pH = 2. Further studies show that differences in the binding of Arg and Cyt C at different levels of protonation lead to different switching behaviors within the nanochannels, which in turn lead to different surface charges within the nanochannels. It can be used for detecting Cyt C and as an excellent and robust gate for developing integrated circuits and nanoelectronic logic devices.

Contemporary women frequently employ beautification strategies. The impact of such strategies, such as plastic surgery, on mating popularity in different mate contexts remains unclear. To investigate this issue, the current study conducted two experiments. In Experiment 1, beautification strategies were manipulated using three images of the same female with different conditions (natural, makeup, and plastic surgery). The results indicated that when the beautification strategies were not informed, surgical-enhanced and makeup targets were perceived as significantly more attractive, loyal, and popular among potential mates than natural targets. However, when participants were informed of the beautification strategies, both natural and makeup targets showed a significant increase in perceived loyalty and mating popularity. In contrast, surgically enhanced targets saw a reduction in these dimensions. Experiment 2 aimed to reduce the confounding effect of facial attractiveness by using vignettes. The results indicated that the mating popularity of natural targets was significantly higher than that of makeup or surgically enhanced targets, with surgically enhanced targets being the least popular. Moreover, the results revealed the mediating role of perceived loyalty in the impact of beautification strategies on long-term mating popularity. This study sheds light on the potential stigmatization and negative bias toward beautification strategies in the mating market. Additionally, it provides guidance for women who intend to enhance their mate popularity through plastic surgery.

This paper is concerned with a one-dimensional isentropic compressible Navier-Stokes-Allen-Cahn system with density-dependent viscosity, which models the motion of a mixture of two viscous compressible fluids. The case when the pressure $ p(\rho) = \rho^\gamma $, the viscosity $ \nu(\rho, \chi) = \rho^\alpha $, the interface thickness $ \delta(\rho) = \rho^\beta $ and the relaxation time function $ a(\rho, \chi, \chi_y) = \rho^\lambda $ is considered, where $ \rho $ and $ \chi $ are the density and the phase variable, respectively, and $ \gamma, \alpha, \beta, \lambda\in\mathbb{R} $ are parameters. Under some suitable assumptions on the parameters $ \gamma , \alpha, \beta, \lambda $ and the initial data, we prove the global existence and large-time behavior of nonvacuum strong and classical solutions to its Cauchy problem with large initial data. This appears to be the first global existence result on the Cauchy problem of the compressible Navier-Stokes-Allen-Cahn system with density-dependent viscosity and large data.

The production of the ψ(2S) charmonium state was measured with ALICE in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV, in the dimuon decay channel. A significant signal was observed for the first time at LHC energies down to zero transverse momentum, at forward rapidity (2.5<y<4). The measurement of the ratio of the inclusive production cross sections of the ψ(2S) and J/ψ resonances is reported as a function of the centrality of the collisions and of transverse momentum, in the region p_{T}<12 GeV/c. The results are compared with the corresponding measurements in pp collisions, by forming the double ratio [σ^{ψ(2S)}/σ^{J/ψ}]_{Pb-Pb}/[σ^{ψ(2S)}/σ^{J/ψ}]_{pp}. It is found that in Pb-Pb collisions the ψ(2S) is suppressed by a factor of ∼2 with respect to the J/ψ. The ψ(2S) nuclear modification factor R_{AA} was also obtained as a function of both centrality and p_{T}. The results show that the ψ(2S) resonance yield is strongly suppressed in Pb-Pb collisions, by a factor of up to ∼3 with respect to pp. Comparisons of cross section ratios with previous Super Proton Synchrotron findings by the NA50 experiment and of R_{AA} with higher-p_{T} results at LHC energy are also reported. These results and the corresponding comparisons with calculations of transport and statistical models address questions on the presence and properties of charmonium states in the quark-gluon plasma formed in nuclear collisions at the LHC.

The highly glycosylated mucin 1 (MUC1) serves as a promising target for cancer vaccines. However, the weak immunogenicity of MUC1 greatly impedes its application. Here, we covalently linked a MUC1 glycopeptide to carrier protein bovine serum albumin (BSA), and the resulting BSA-MUC1 conjugate was integrated with a ternary adjuvant system comprising TLR3 agonist poly(I:C), STING agonist c-GAMP, and Alum adjuvant. Compared to adjuvant-free and Alum-adjuvanted groups, the ternary adjuvant group induced 18.3- and 10.9-fold increases in MUC1-specific IgG titers, and effectively suppressed tumor growth. These findings may propose a straightforward yet highly effective strategy for designing vaccines, offering promising prospects in cancer treatment.

Given the widespread concern on collaborative problem solving (CPS) skills, there has been an increasing interest in the last few years to explore how to assess them with digital technologies. This study systematically reviewed how CPS skills have been assessed with digital technologies in the literature. A total of 40 articles were reviewed to analyze specific computer-based assessment instruments of CPS skills from four perspectives: research context, theoretical model for assessment, assessment type, and reliability and validity evidence. The results indicate that most tests target a sample of less than 500 junior students. Nine theoretical models are employed for assessing CPS skills, most of which treat these skills as an explicit combination of social and cognitive skills and are applied to a limited range of participants' age levels, collaboration features, and team compositions. A total of 22 tests have been employed and fallen into four types, i. e., the ones with specific predefined messages in human-agent mode, and those with online chat box, videoconferencing, and face-to-face collaboration in human-human mode. Each type of these tests demonstrates great diversities in participants' age levels, types of CPS task(s), team compositions, types of assessment data, and methods of data recording and scoring. A certain number of tests lack reliability and validity evidence. Our findings are expected to benefit relevant researchers and test developers in terms of providing suggestions for future research which include testing the applicability of theoretical models for assessing CPS skills across a wide range of assessment contexts. In addition, future researchers should improve the development, data processing, and report of those four types of computer-based assessment instruments of CPS skills through different approaches, respectively.
