Big data in education relate closely to a wealth of activities from the teachers, students and parents, as well as a substantial resources of knowledge that can be represented in hierarchical structures. The activities have characteristic of geo-location which can be projected onto a map, while the resources of knowledge can also be converted into the map. A map-based management and visual analysis method will largely benefit the users and the researchers from taking advantages of the big data in education. In this paper, we propose a novel map based method to manage and analyze the big data of mobile learning in education. With this method, the activities of users scattered among the space are reorganized on a geographic map with location changes in time series, and the resources are geo-tagged with the information from the developers or adopters, which are converted to a map style according to their hierarchical structures even when the users' information are unavailable. We first present the basic framework to organize the data by a map-based technology, and then a platform is proposed to perform the visual analysis. The method is adapt to the construction of massive online learning system and the mobile learning system of Central China Normal University to serve a national wide big data cloud learning program.

The purpose of this study is to facilitate students to improve writing textual cohesion on a game-based writing environment. The participants included 113 third-grade students from a lower middle-class elementary school in Taiwan. The experimental group used a game-based writing platform in contrast to the control group who used a pure writing platform. Both of these platforms built according to RCTR model which could help students overcome writing difficulties. Further, the game-based writing platform provided management game and peer interaction mechanism. The preliminary results showed experimental group students performed better than control group students on textual cohesion. We speculated on the reasons: game-based platform strengthened students' engagement and peer interaction.

Based on the cognitive load theory and the interactive resources, this paper aims to design a model of interactive learning resources to reduce students' cognitive load. In particular, the interactive learning resources were designed based on HTML5 technology, which performed a teaching evaluation around a geography lecture in junior high school. It has been the results proved that it is very effective for students to reduce their cognitive load in terms of the feedback received from both teachers and students.

MOOCs actually share many similarities with MMOPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Games). Since the latter is more successful in appealing participants, it will be beneficial to reflect which ideas from game design are effective to lengthen the engagement of MOOCs students. In this paper, feasible implications from gamification monographs were listed into a questionnaire to analyze students' preferences on MOOCs instructional environment. Three environment factors are extracted: content preparation, interaction and assessment. A structural equation model was proposed to illustrate the relationships between these factors. After verified, the implications work as criteria for volunteers to rate the environment quality of 76 Chinese MOOCs in six different platforms. It turned out that the scores on three factors can be used to predict the engagement endurance level of MOOCs by using K-Nearest Neighbors algorithm. Its error rate is 18.92%. Moreover, correlation analysis found that content preparation (r=0.57, p=<0.001) is the most effective factor that affects the engagement.

Tujia Brocade is one of the five Chinese famous brocades. Tujia brocade yarn, which uses botanic dyeing, is gradually disappearing because of the impact of modern industry. China has attached great importance to the digital protection of ancient craftsmanship nowadays; it is of great significance for the protection of Tujia brocade culture by using digital technology to show the process and reproduce history and human environment what has disappeared. This paper studies the modeling and realistic simulation of Tujia brocade yarn, initially and gets the twist, hairiness, color and shape characteristics of Tujia brocade yarn via instrument measuring and image processing technology, subsequently utilizes the simulation technology to realize the realistic simulation of Tujia brocade yarn, as so to achieve the digital and virtual reproduction of Tujia Brocade.

Parallel processing in the real-time visualization of three-dimensional Geographic Information Systems (3DGIS) has tended to concentrate on algorithm levels in recent years, and most of the existing methods employ multiple threads in a Central Processing Unit (CPU) or kernel in a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to improve efficiency in the computation of the Level of Details (LODs) for three-dimensional (3D) Models and in the display of Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) and Digital Orthphoto Maps (DOMs). The systematic analysis of the task and data characteristics of parallelism in the real-time visualization of 3DGIS continues to fall behind the development of hardware. In this paper, the basic procedures of real-time visualization of urban 3DGIS are first reviewed, and then the real-time visualization pipeline is analyzed. Further, the pipeline is decomposed into different task stages based on the task order and the input-output dependency. Based on the analysis of task parallelism in different pipeline stages, the data parallelism characteristics in each task are summarized by studying the involved algorithms. Finally, this paper proposes a parallel co-processing mode and a collaborative strategy for real-time visualization of urban 3DGIS. It also provides a fundamental basis for developing parallel algorithms and strategies in 3DGIS.

Java language course is a professional course of computer science. Usually, the teacher encounters how to give learners insights into the language grammatical structure and how to find a proper way to help learners grasp a new kind of skill. To address this problem, learners' learning styles and competences should be focused on. In this paper, we propose a new Java language teaching scheme based on the learners' learning styles and competences. Furthermore, we develop a new learner model which is the core of the proposed adaptive learning system. The system was developed for Java language teaching and we implemented an experiment to identify its effectiveness. The experimental result shows that learners' ability of solving practical application problems and the enthusiasm of learning Java language have been significantly improved. Teachers can also be accurate and objective in the evaluation of learners' learning.

The development of a guide robot with explanatory features has always been a subject of concern. Based on NAO, a guide robot with Chinese and English voice recognition and expression is implemented, which enables visitors to interact with the robot in the exhibition hall. This paper designs interaction scheme, using the exhibition hall of the project team as experimental environment, focusing on how to make robots provide explanation service, especially on understanding the questions from visitors and the emotional expression of answers to visitors. This paper uses existing speech recognition methods and designs the explanation content and the dialog form, which allows the robot to recognize the questions from visitors, and combine speech representation with robot body movements so that the robot can express emotions to a certain extent. Finally, this paper verified the robot in the plane exhibition hall specializing in foreign propaganda, and the robot is able to perform their daily work on explanation, and greatly enhance the interactive experience of visitors.

With the gradual improvement of the level of educational information, the idea of education big data has gone deep into people's minds. More and more teaching staff and researchers have the consciousness of the data needs, and expect to do the data mining and learning analysis of education big data. However, the most realistic and basic problem they have in the process of carrying out research is that there is no good data support or a convenient way to get data. Aiming at the problem, this article puts forward an education big data open service model, and builds the education big data open service platform based on the model. The platform has tried to run on the Central China Normal University and provides some data service for all the teachers and students in school. The data acquisition trouble is solved perfectly for teaching staff and researchers.
