摘要:
Statistical inference about a partial linear model includes two parts, one linear and the other nonparametric. The double smoothing method proposed by He and Huang (2009) is a progressive local smoothing method for nonparametric curve estimation. In this paper, we discuss its extension to partial linear models, accompanied with difference-based estimation method for the linear part. Asymptotic theory of the proposed method is developed. The results of simulation studies and real data examples demonstrate that our approach is effective even for data with moderate sample sizes.

摘要:
In this paper, we characterize a Rickard complex, which induces a Rickard equivalence between the block algebras of a block b and its Brauer correspondent and whose vertices have the same order as defect groups of the block b. The homology of such a Rickard complex vanishes at all degree but degree q, and the homology at degree q induces a basic Morita equivalence between the block algebras in the sense of Puig. We study the concentration and multiplicity of weak solutions to the Kirchhoff type equation with critical Sobolev growth, -(epsilon(2)a + epsilon b integral(R3) vertical bar del u vertical bar(2))del u + V(z)u = f(u) + u(5) in R-3, u is an element of H-1(R-3), u > 0 in R-3, where e is a small positive parameter and a, b > 0 are constants, f is an element of C-1(R+, R) is subcritical, V : R-3 -> R is a locally Holder continuous function. We first prove that for epsilon(0) > 0 sufficiently small, the above problem has a weak solution u(epsilon) with exponential decay at infinity. Moreover, u(epsilon) concentrates around a local minimum point of V in Lambda as epsilon -> 0. With minimax theorems and Ljusternik-Schnirelmann theory, we also obtain multiple solutions by employing the topological construction of the set where the potential V(z) attains its minimum.

In this paper, we study the Cauchy problem of the 3-dimensional (3D) generalized Navier-Stokes equations (gNS) in the Triebel-Lizorkin spaces <(F)over dot>(-alpha,r)(q alpha) with (alpha, r) is an element of (1, 5/4) x [1,infinity] and q(alpha) = 3/alpha-1. Our work establishes a dichotomy of well-posedness and ill-posedness depending on r. Specifically, by combining the new endpoint bilinear estimates in (LxLT2)-L-q alpha, and L-T(infinity) <(F)over dot>(-alpha,1)(q alpha) and characterization of the Triebel-Lizorkin spaces via fractional semigroup, we prove well-posedness of the gNS in <(F)over dot>(-alpha,r)(q alpha) for r is an element of [1, 2]. Meanwhile, for any r is an element of (2, infinity], we show that the solution to the gNS can develop norm inflation in the sense that arbitrarily small initial data in <(F)over dot>(-alpha,r)(q alpha) can produce arbitrarily large solution after arbitrarily short time.

摘要:
The objective of this article is to study the issue of employing the uniformity criterion measured by wrap-around L2-discrepancy to assess the optimal foldover plans. For mixed two- and three-level fractional factorials as the original designs, general foldover plan and combined design under a foldover plan are defined, and the equivalence between any foldover plan and its complementary foldover plan is investigated. A lower bound of wrap-around L2-discrepancy of combined designs under a general foldover plan is obtained, which can be used as a benchmark for searching optimal foldover plans. Moreover, it also provides a theoretical justification for optimal foldover plans in terms of uniformity criterion.

The Hosoya index of a graph is defined as the total number of the matchings of the graph. In this paper, we determine the lower bounds for the Hosoya index of unicyclic graph with a given diameter. The corresponding extremal graphs are characterized.

Let E,F⊂Rd be two self-similar sets. Under mild conditions, we show that F can be C1-embedded into E if and only if it can be affinely embedded into E; furthermore if F cannot be affinely embedded into E, then the Hausdorff dimension of the intersection E∩f(F) is strictly less than that of F for any C1-diffeomorphism f on Rd. Under certain circumstances, we prove the logarithmic commensurability between the contraction ratios of E and F if F can be affinely embedded into E. As an application, we show that dimHE∩f(F)<min{dimHE,dimHF} when E is any Cantor-p set and F any Cantor-q set, where p,q⩾2 are two integers with logp/logq∉Q. This is related to a conjecture of Furstenberg about the intersections of Cantor sets.
Soit E et F deux ensembles auto-similaires dans Rd. Sous des hypothèses raisonnables, on montre qu'il existe un plongement C1 de F dans E si et seulement s'il existe un tel plongement affine ; de plus, s'il n'existe pas de plongement affine de F dans E, alors pour tout difféomorphisme C1 de Rd la dimension de Hausdorff de l'intersection E∩f(F) est strictement inférieure à celle de F. Dans certains cas, on montre que les logarithmes des facteurs de contraction de E et F sont commensurables lorsqu'il existe un plongement affine de F dans E. En application, on montre que dimHE∩f(F)<min{dimHE,dimHF} quand E est un p-ensemble de Cantor et F est un q-ensemble de Cantor, où p et q sont des nombres entiers ⩾2 tels que logp/logq∉Q. Ceci est relié à une conjecture de Furstenberg sur les intersections d'ensembles de Cantor.
