摘要:
The importance of integrating history into mathematics education is widely recognised in the literature and advocated in curricula worldwide, including in China. However, under the influence of the long-standing centrally designed curricula, teachers in China are accustomed to content- and teacher-centred examination-driven teaching practices. Adopting a life story approach, this paper reports the case of a mathematics teacher who integrated history into her mathematics teaching during the initial two years of her teaching in a Shanghai high school. The agentic perspective adopted in the study allows us to focus on how the teacher's agency was enacted and achieved when engaging in teaching practices. Our findings reveal the roles played by personal qualities, prior experiences, and the structure and culture of schooling in the teacher's agency in integrating history into teaching under a dominant performance-driven context. Implications of the results for integrating history into teaching in restricted contexts are then discussed.

摘要:
The energy of G, denoted by E(G), is defined as the sum of the absolute values of the eigenvalues of G. In this paper, the trees with a given diameter having the minimal energy are determined by three specific tree operations; using this method, together with previous work, a conjecture proposed by B. Zhou and F. Li [J. Math. Chem. 39, No. 3–4, 465–473 (2006; Zbl 1100.05064)] is completely solved.

The energy of a graph is defined as the sum of the absolute values of its all eigenvalues. Gutman [Acyclic systems with extremal Huckel pi-electron energy, Theoret. Chim. Acta 45(1977) 79-87] characterized the trees with n vertices having the minimal, the second-minimal, the third-minimal, the fourth-minimal, the maximal, and the second-maximal energies. In this paper, as the continuance of it, we determine the trees with n vertices having the fifth-minimal, the sixth-minimal, the seventh-minimal, and the third-maximal energies. As a consequence, we determine the tree with n vertices having extremal Hosoya index. And at the same time, we in part solve a conjecture proposed by Zhou and Li.

Chem.. 59 (2008) 000-000] axe completed by determining the n-vertex trees with second-, third-, fourth-, fifth-, sixth-, and seventh-minimal energy, as well as those with second-, third-, and fourth-maximal energy, for all values of n.
