摘要:
Drawing on Bronfenbrenner's ecological system and van Lier's affordance, this study explored livestream English teaching anxiety experienced by high school teachers through interviews with 12 high school EFL teachers from China. Six types of anxiety were identified at the macro, exo, and micro levels, namely, anxiety related to the COVID-19 pandemic, limited technological support from school authorities, students' parents, inadequate technological pedagogical and content knowledge (TPACK), and insufficient effective teacherestudent interactions. Implications for alleviating teachers' online anxiety were proposed to enhance the teachers' livestreaming confidence and the teaching quality in the post pandemic era.(c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. 摘要:
As the moral principles in regulating the relationship between different ethnic groups, ethnic ethics arc crucial for the construction of "a community of shared future." Despite the fact that ethnic ethics have always occupied a central position in numerous literary works dealing with the entanglements between different ethnic groups, there is an obvious lack of systematic, comprehensive, and in-depth research in this area. Thus, ethnic ethics embedded in the imagined communities in these literary works can be another important testing ground for ethical literary criticism. This paper first looks into the unequal and unjust relationship between different ethnic groups when racism is employed as the governing ethical principle during the colonial period. This can be seen from the consequent conflicts among different ethnic groups. Secondly, with the independence of various nation-states and the driving of anti-racial movements, those ethnic groups in subordinate or less advantageous positions keep exploring, revitalizing, and reimagining their own cultural traditions, with the aim to reconstruct ethnic ethics and their own ethical identities. Lastly, this paper argues that cosmopolitanism can be appropriated as the ethical guiding principle for the future construction of a cross-ethnic community with the harmonious co-existence and alliance of different ethnic groups.

This corpus-assisted ecolinguistic study examines the representation of the northward migration of a herd of Asian elephants in China’s official English-language media. The analysis reveals that the Asian elephants’ northward migration is conceptualized as a journey and an exodus. The Asian elephants in the news are represented in a mixed way: both as babies and villains. The authorities are portrayed in the news coverage as heroes: responsible protectors and resourceful problem-solvers. Locals are constructed as environmentally conscious friends, in contrast to an earlier image as victims. Based on [Stibbe, A. 2021. Ecolinguistics: Language, Ecology and the Stories We Live By. 2nd ed. London: Routledge, 14] ecosophy of “Living!”, the representation of Asian elephants is seen as anthropocentric and problematic in some respects. However, the prominence given to nonhuman reports in the official media has a positive effect on raising public awareness of wildlife conservation. Therefore, the series of reports is considered an ambivalent discourse. Those responsible for the discourse play a major role in the presentation of the natural world and the promotion of beneficial discourses. In essence, the use of discursive resources by the official media is in line with the prevailing ideology of ecological civilization in China, which in the meantime serves to build a positive image of the country in the international community.

摘要:
Situating affect in the soundscapes of suona as a Chinese musical instrument in various media, this study investigates how these mediated soundscapes shape social ideologies, hierarchies of cultures, and social resistance in ancient and contemporary China. Several mediated soundscapes are tapped into, including (1) the poem titled “To the Tune of Seeing the Emperor-Ode to the Trumpet”; (2) a TV program demonstrating how suona can be “languaging” in localized contexts; (3) a famous movie titled “Song of the Phoenix” capturing the contestation of affective regimes represented by the Chinese conventional versus the Western modern; (4) works of a well-known rock band, the Second-Hand Rose, showing how two differing affective regimes were conflated. In examining these mediated soundscapes, this study showcases how stratifications of cultures as the high versus the low, the conventional versus the modern, vernacularism versus globalism are constructed, resisted, and transmuted via competition and conflation of affective regimes in Chinese media.
