摘要:
Probabilistic uncertainty analysis is a common means of evaluating mathematical models. In mathematical modeling, the uncertainty in input variables is specified through distribution laws. Its contribution to the uncertainty in model response is usually analyzed by assuming that input variables are independent of each other. However, correlated parameters are often happened in practical applications. In the present paper, an analytic method is built for the uncertainty and sensitivity analysis of models in the presence of input correlations. With the method, it is straightforward to identify the importance of the independence and correlations of input variables in determining the model response. This allows one to decide whether or not the input correlations should be considered in practice. Numerical examples suggest the effectiveness and validation of our analytic method in the analysis of general models. A practical application of the method is also proposed to the uncertainty and sensitivity analysis of a deterministic HIV model.

摘要:
In the current discussions about "artificial intelligence" (AI) and "singularity", both labels are used with several very different senses, and the confusion among these senses is the root of many disagreements. Similarly, although "artificial general intelligence" (AGI) has become a widely used term in the related discussions, many people are not really familiar with this research, including its aim and status. We analyze these notions, and introduce the results of our own AGI research. Our main conclusions are that: (1) it is possible to build a computer system that follows the same laws of thought and shows similar properties as the human mind, but, since such an AGI will have neither a human body nor human experience, it will not behave exactly like a human, nor will it be "smarter than a human" on all tasks; and (2) since the development of an AGI requires a reasonably good understanding of the general mechanism of intelligence, the system's behaviors will still be understandable and predictable in principle. Therefore, the success of AGI will not necessarily lead to a singularity beyond which the future becomes completely incomprehensible and uncontrollable. © 2018 by the authors.

The ratio of branching fractions R(D∗-)≡B(B0→D∗-τ+ντ)/B(B0→D∗-μ+νμ) is measured using a data sample of proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb-1. For the first time, R(D∗-) is determined using the τ-lepton decays with three charged pions in the final state. The B0→D∗-τ+ντ yield is normalized to that of the B0→D∗-π+π-π+ mode, providing a measurement of B(B0→D∗-τ+ντ)/B(B0→D∗-π+π-π+)=1.97±0.13±0.18, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The value of B(B0→D∗-τ+ντ)=(1.42±0.094±0.129±0.054)% is obtained, where the third uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of the branching fraction of the normalization mode. Using the well-measured branching fraction of the B0→D∗-μ+νμ decay, a value of R(D∗-)=0.291±0.019±0.026±0.013 is established, where the third uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of the branching fractions of the normalization and B0→D∗-μ+νμ modes. This measurement is in agreement with the standard model prediction and with previous results. © 2018 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration. 摘要:
The absolute concentration robustness (ACR) steady state of a biochemical system can protect against changing a large concentration of the system's components. In this paper, a minimal model of autonomous-nonautonomous transposons driven by intrinsic and extrinsic noises is investigated. The effects of intrinsic and extrinsic noises on ACR steady state of the transposons kinetics are studied by numerical simulations. It is found that the predator-prey-like oscillations around the ACR steady state are induced by the intrinsic or extrinsic noises. Comparing with the case of intrinsic noises, the extrinsic noises can inhibit the amplitude of oscillations of transposon kinetics. To characterize the predator-prey-like oscillations, we calculate the probability distributions and the normalized correlation functions of a system in the stability domain. With the increasing of noise intensity, the peak of the probability distribution is shifted from the ACR steady state to the trivial steady state. The normalized autocorrelation and cross-correlation functions indicate that the state of the predator-prey oscillator is transmitted to 50 successive generations at least.

摘要:
An understanding of protein folding/unfolding processes has important implications for all biological processes, including protein degradation, protein translocation, aging, and diseases. All-atom molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are uniquely suitable for it because of their atomic level resolution and accuracy. However, limited by computational capabilities, nowadays even for small and fast-folding proteins, all-atom MD simulations of protein folding still presents a great challenge. An alternative way is to study unfolding process using MD simulations at high temperature. High temperature provides more energy to overcome energetic barriers to unfolding, and information obtained from studying unfolding can shed light on the mechanism of folding. In the present study, a 1000-ns MD simulation at high temperature (500 K) was performed to investigate the unfolding process of a small protein, chicken villin headpiece (HP-35). To infer the folding mechanism, a Markov state model was also built from our simulation, which maps out six macrostates during the folding/unfolding process as well as critical transitions between them, revealing the folding mechanism unambiguously. © 2018 Chinese Physical Society and IOP Publishing Ltd.

摘要:
Work-related use of information and communication technologies after hours (W_ICTs) has been found to have an extensive and profound influence on employees’ work and family lives. In the current study, we examined the effect of W_ICTs on employee emotional exhaustion and investigated the underlying mechanism with two different samples. In Study 1, data from 447 Chinese college counselors showed that W_ICTs was positively associated with emotional exhaustion, but this positive relationship was weaker for individuals with higher work-home integration preference. These findings were replicated in Study 2, using a sample of 340 full-time employees from different companies in different industries in China. Further analyses showed that work schedule and location control mediated the moderating effect of work-home integration preference on the relationship between W_ICTs and emotional exhaustion. These findings provide strong support for the proposed mediated moderation model, and demonstrate the importance of adopting a needs-supplies fit perspective to understanding the influence of W_ICTs. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd

摘要:
The present study tested the mediating role of self-control and moderating role of mindfulness in the link between perceived stress and mobile phone addiction. A sample of 899 Chinese adolescents completed measures of perceived stress, mobile phone addiction, self-control and mindfulness. Results showed that self-control partially mediated the association between perceived stress and mobile phone addiction. In addition, both the direct association between perceived stress and mobile phone addiction and the indirect effect of self-control were moderated by mindfulness, in that these effects were stronger for individuals with low mindfulness than for those with high mindfulness. These findings advance our understanding of how and when perceived stress is linked to mobile phone addiction. Limitations and implications of this study are discussed. © 2018 Elsevier Ltd

Searches are performed for both promptlike and long-lived dark photons, A′, produced in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, using A′→μ+μ- decays and a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.6 fb-1 collected with the LHCb detector. The promptlike A′ search covers the mass range from near the dimuon threshold up to 70 GeV, while the long-lived A′ search is restricted to the low-mass region 214<m(A′)<350 MeV. No evidence for a signal is found, and 90% confidence level exclusion limits are placed on the γ-A′ kinetic-mixing strength. The constraints placed on promptlike dark photons are the most stringent to date for the mass range 10.6<m(A′)<70 GeV, and are comparable to the best existing limits for m(A′)<0.5 GeV. The search for long-lived dark photons is the first to achieve sensitivity using a displaced-vertex signature. © 2018 authors. Published by the American Physical Society.

A search for the rare decay Σ+→pμ+μ- is performed using pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies s=7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb-1. An excess of events is observed with respect to the background expectation, with a signal significance of 4.1 standard deviations. No significant structure is observed in the dimuon invariant mass distribution, in contrast with a previous result from the HyperCP experiment. The measured Σ+→pμ+μ- branching fraction is (2.2-1.3+1.8)×10-8, where statistical and systematic uncertainties are included, which is consistent with the standard model prediction. © 2018 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration. Previous studies have documented that peer victimization is a significant risk factor causing Internet addiction among adolescents. However, little is known about the mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this relation. On the basis of the emotional security theory and the resilience theory, this study examined whether psychological security would mediate the relation between peer victimization and adolescent Internet addiction, and whether teacher-student relationships would moderate the mediating process. Participants comprised 747 Chinese students (mean age = 13.73 years, SD = 1.00) recruited from three middle schools. They provided self-reported data on demographic variables, peer victimization, psychological security, teacher-student relationship, and Internet addiction. After controlling for age, gender, parents' education, and family's financial status, mediation analysis indicated that psychological security fully mediated the association between peer victimization and adolescent Internet addiction. Moderated mediation analysis further demonstrated that positive teacher-student relationships ameliorated the adverse impact of peer victimization on psychological security, thereby mitigating the indirect effect of peer victimization on Internet addiction among adolescents. This study highlights the mediating and moderating mechanisms linking peer victimization to Internet addiction and has important implications for the prevention and intervention of Internet addiction among adolescents. © 2018 Elsevier Ltd

Studies of Internet addiction (IA) under the cognitive-behavioral framework have suggested that IA derived from the excessive expectation of positive outcomes, which was a goal-directed behavioral progress. However, according to the dual-system account under the framework of associative learning theory, IA should be considered as a transition process from goal-directed to habit-based. It can be explained in terms of aberrant learning processes, where Internet addicts apparently succumb to habit with decreased sensitivity to reward devaluation. To test this hypothesis, we implemented an instrumental learning paradigm to investigate the difference of reliance on habit between Internet addicts and non-addicts. A total of 21 Internet addicts and 23 normal control subjects were trained in the first experimental phase and learned to associate stimuli with rewarding outcomes by pressing correct keys. In the subsequent outcome devaluation test and in the stimulus-response (S-R) habit test, subjects were required to adjust responses to changes in the value of current outcomes. Results revealed that (1) all subjects were able to gradually acquire the correct behavioral responses in the training phase, however, (2) extensive training rendered Internet addicts less sensitive to outcome devaluation in the outcome devaluation test, and (3) Internet addicts insisted on responding to previous stimuli in the S-R habit test, regardless of whether their responses were rewarded. Thus, we conclude that Internet addicts have an enhanced propensity to develop stimulus-driven habits and overly rely on it, leading to the failures to adjust behavior during goal reevaluation. © 2018 Elsevier Ltd

The first observation of the D0→π+π-μ+μ- and D0→K+K-μ+μ- decays is reported using a sample of proton-proton collisions collected by LHCb at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV, and corresponding to 2 fb-1 of integrated luminosity. The corresponding branching fractions are measured using as normalization the decay D0→K-π+[μ+μ-]ρ0/ω, where the two muons are consistent with coming from the decay of a ρ0 or ω meson. The results are B(D0→π+π-μ+μ-)=(9.64±0.48±0.51±0.97)×10-7 and B(D0→K+K-μ+μ-)=(1.54±0.27±0.09±0.16)×10-7, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the limited knowledge of the normalization branching fraction. The dependence of the branching fraction on the dimuon mass is also investigated. © 2017 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration. Published by the American Physical Society.

A search for the rare decays Bs0→τ+τ- and B0→τ+τ- is performed using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb-1 collected in 2011 and 2012. The τ leptons are reconstructed through the decay τ-→π-π+π-ντ. Assuming no contribution from B0→τ+τ- decays, an upper limit is set on the branching fraction B(Bs0→τ+τ-)<6.8×10-3 at the 95% confidence level. If instead no contribution from Bs0→τ+τ- decays is assumed, the limit is B(B0→τ+τ-)<2.1×10-3 at the 95% confidence level. These results correspond to the first direct limit on B(Bs0→τ+τ-) and the world's best limit on B(B0→τ+τ-). © 2017 CERN. for the LHCb Collaboration. Asymmetries in the time-dependent rates of D0→K+K-and D0→π+π-decays are measured in a pp collision data sample collected with the LHCb detector during LHC Run 1, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb-1. The asymmetries in effective decay widths between D0 and D-0 decays, sensitive to indirect CP violation, are measured to be AΓ(K+K-)=(-0.30±0.32±0.10)×10-3 and AΓ(π+π-)=(0.46±0.58±0.12)×10-3, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These measurements show no evidence for CP violation and improve on the precision of the previous best measurements by nearly a factor of two. © 2017 CERN.

Research has revealed that mobile phone addiction was a risk factor for poor sleep quality, however, little is known about the underlying mechanisms that may mediate or moderate this association. This study examined the mediating role of rumination and moderating role of mindfulness in the association between mobile phone addiction and sleep quality. A sample of 1196 Chinese adolescents was recruited to complete measures of mobile phone addiction, sleep quality, rumination and mindfulness. Results showed that rumination partially mediated the relationship between mobile phone addiction and sleep quality. Besides, both the effect of mobile phone addiction on sleep quality and the mediating effect of rumination were moderated by mindfulness, and both of the two effects were stronger for individuals with lower mindfulness. The present study can advance our understanding of how and when mobile phone addiction leads to poor sleep quality. Limitations and implications of this study are discussed. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd

Interstitial (Li) and substitutional-type (Mo) co-doped new-type urchin-like Lix(Mo0.3V0.7)2O5 (LMVO) is fabricated via in situ gas bubble template strategy, which leads to distinctive conductivity, high number of active sites, reversible ion intercalation and accessible redox couple. Consequently, the electrochemical performance of LMVO is enhanced enormously owing to the hollow morphology and unique electronic structure. The charge storage capability of the synthetic LMVO is investigated in Mg2+ and Zn2+ electrolytes as well as Li+ electrolyte, due to the similar radius, higher charge, abundant reserve and rational cost. As a result, LMVO achieves a specific capacitance of 484 F g-1 at 1 A g-1 in Zn2+ electrolyte, which apparently surpasses the performance in Li+ and Mg2+ electrolytes. Moreover, the assembled LMVO//LMVO device delivers a specific capacitance of 117 F g-1 at 0.8 A g-1, which indicates large potential for application. © 2017 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

摘要:
Synapse plays an important role in signal exchange and information encoding between neurons. Electric and chemical synapses are often used to investigate the synchronization in electrical activities of neurons. In this paper, memristor is used to connect two neurons and the phase synchronization in electrical activities is discussed. Inter-spike interval (ISI) is calculated from the sampled time series for membrane potential, and the dependence of coupling intensity on phase synchronization of neuron is investigated and the effect of electromagnetic induction is considered. Furthermore, the synchronization stability of network is detected under noise; a statistical synchronization factor is also calculated. It is found synchronization can be enhanced under memristor coupling and appropriate noise is also helpful for synchronization stability. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd

The production of J/ψ mesons in jets is studied in the forward region of proton-proton collisions using data collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The fraction of the jet transverse momentum carried by the J/ψ meson, z(J/ψ)≡pT(J/ψ)/pT(jet), is measured using jets with pT(jet)>20 GeV in the pseudorapidity range 2.5<η(jet)<4.0. The observed z(J/ψ) distribution for J/ψ mesons produced in b-hadron decays is consistent with expectations. However, the results for prompt J/ψ production do not agree with predictions based on fixed-order nonrelativistic QCD. This is the first measurement of the pT fraction carried by prompt J/ψ mesons in jets at any experiment. © 2017 CERN.

The Ξc+K- mass spectrum is studied with a sample of pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.3 fb-1, collected by the LHCb experiment. The Ξc+ is reconstructed in the decay mode pK-π+. Five new, narrow excited Ωc0 states are observed: the Ωc(3000)0, Ωc(3050)0, Ωc(3066)0, Ωc(3090)0, and Ωc(3119)0. Measurements of their masses and widths are reported. © 2017 CERN.

A search for baryon-number violating Ξb0 oscillations is performed with a sample of pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb-1. The baryon number at the moment of production is identified by requiring that the Ξb0 come from the decay of a resonance Ξb∗-→Ξb0π- or Ξb′-→Ξb0π-, and the baryon number at the moment of decay is identified from the final state using the decays Ξb0→Ξc+π-,Ξc+→pK-π+. No evidence of baryon-number violation is found, and an upper limit at the 95% confidence level is set on the oscillation rate of ω<0.08 ps-1, where ω is the associated angular frequency. © 2017 CERN, for the LHCb.
